Ousama Ranking, or also known as Ranking of Kings, is one of the many anime that is recognized by the majority of the anime lover community as a high-quality anime series. This thought arises because after watching Ousama Ranking, you will definitely feel something different from other modern anime presentations.

What exactly makes the experience of watching Ousama Ranking feel so unique compared to other anime? Here are 6 different things about Ousama Ranking that you don't experience when watching other anime!

1. No Fanservice

It may seem difficult to invite family members to watch anime together, because most anime nowadays, there are many fanservices that lead to adult content found in every anime. For example, My Dress Up Darling is a fantastic anime, but it has a lot of fanservice moments that would make it a little uncomfortable to watch with the family.

Fortunately, watching Ousama Ranking seems to feel different because it doesn't indulge in fanservice at all. This means that Ousama Ranking is completely safe to recommend to anyone, and can be enjoyed by many people from all walks of life.

2. Unique Artwork

Most modern anime certainly have the stereotypical artwork style that most anime series embrace today. In contrast, Ousama Ranking artwork is a homage to the original manga's artwork style, while incorporating some of the more modern aesthetics.

Above all, Ousama Ranking's art style captures the sort of classic anime aesthetic seen in iconic anime from the 1980s and 1990s like My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, or Princess Mononoke.

It's not only the artwork that feels different when watching Ousama Ranking, but also the animation. This anime series not only puts great animation into every important battle scene, but the way it is presented is also very different.

For example, the confrontation scene between Bojji and his opponent in episode 21. This anime could have presented the fight with scenes that are usually shown in other anime. On the other hand, the anime Ousama Ranking decided to exaggerate this scene as if Bojji was fighting his enemy in his original form, which makes the fight scene 2 times more visually stunning.

3. Defying Constant Stereotypes That Often Exist in Other Anime

Sosuke Toka, the creator of Ousama Ranking, must be familiar with every stereotypical character and story that often exists in other anime. That's why Toka expertly avoided all those cliches in Ousama Ranking.

In short, you won't see the way a character usually acts, or the cliché problem solving solutions that are often found in other anime when watching Ousama Ranking. That's why the Ousama Ranking storyline is so unpredictable and feels more fun to follow.

4. No Character is Purely Good or Evil

To further explore the reason that by watching Ousama Ranking, you will get a unique experience because of the characters. None of the main characters are purely good or evil. King Bosse for example, as the story progresses he reveals a lot of his troubled past, and is no longer seen as a really good invincible king like his early appearance.

Antagonists such as Ouken are described as immortal psychopaths who emit an aura similar to Orochimaru from the Naruto series. But actually he has a tragic background that makes his current personality even more heartbreaking. Every character in Ousama Ranking isn't completely black or white, and that makes it feel very unique to watch.

5. Character Development Takes Precedence Over Action Scenes

When watching Ousama Ranking, we are treated to quite a lot of scenes, although the first episode of the anime series might make us all think otherwise. Even if Bojji doesn't get into a lot of fights, he's not the only character the episode will focus on.

But while these action-oriented moments are beautifully animated, they never feel like the core of the series. The essence of the series lies in the very real emotional moments, where character development moments and conversation scenes are the real focus of this anime.

6. Children Characters are Not Made Annoying

The main characters in Ousama Ranking are children. Prince Bojji is a child, Kage is a child, Prince Daida is a child. However, all of the small children's characters in this anime are fantastically made overall.

Usually in other anime, children's characters seem annoying with quite bad character designs. Children are usually presented as burdens, which often causes other characters to be killed too quickly, seriously injured, or simply put in a bad position in the storyline.

But when watching Ousama Ranking, the children are very fun and often make smarter decisions than the adult characters. And the funny thing is, as the story progresses, more and more adult characters become more childish, such as Domas or even Miranjo.

Those are the 6 differences that are felt when watching Ousama Ranking compared to other anime. In your opinion, are there any other differences that you feel when watching Ousama Ranking compared to other anime that have not been discussed here? You can share your answer in the comment section.
