The opening match of the first day of the MPL ID S16 playoffs sees Alter Ego face Natus Vincere in a play-ins match. As we know, the losing team is immediately eliminated, and the winner advances to the next round. This match marked Natus Vincere's first in the MPL ID Season 16 playoffs after their dramatic victory over RRQ Hoshi.

In Game 1, Navi surprisingly made things difficult for Alter Ego. Karss's Lapu-Lapu initiation and Uk1r's Kimmy play gave Natus Vincere an early lead. However, Alter Ego didn't put up a fight. Nino and his teammates tried to find an opening to turn the tide. Navi lost the first Lord, and Alter Ego's players were pushed back.

Alter Ego successfully suppressed the Lord, and the game continued. Navi regained the second Lord and attempted to attack the enemy base. A teamfight ensued in the direction of Alter Ego's base, and Navi managed to lure the opponents out of their base. Alekk was defeated, and Grock Aphro captured two Alter Ego players. Nino's Yu Zhong was stopped by Uk1r, marking a turning point for Natus Vincere.

Finally, Navi managed to win game 1. Alter Ego put on a ferocious display in game 2, with Arfy's Granger play fueling El Familia's morale. Navi tried to fight back, but Xyve's Obsidia play seemed ineffective. The first Lord fell to Alter Ego, and Arfy continued to harass Navi's players. Successfully capturing the second Lord, Alter Ego returned to attack Natus Vincere's base.

Alekk's Grock initiation was on point, and Yazuke managed to take down Karss. However, the game continued. Another teamfight ensued towards Navi's base, and Arfy managed to take down Karss. Xyve disappeared, and Arfy returned to attack Aphro and Alter Ego, securing game 2. Capitalizing on the momentum of the previous game, game 3 saw Alter Ego introduce Uranus Gold Lane.

Uranus Gold Lane was an unexpectedly successful strategy for Alter Ego. Natus Vincere struggled in game 3. The first Lord battle proved costly. Yazuke, with his Yi-Sun-Shin, secured three kills. While attempting to attack Navi's base, Alter Ego's Lord was stopped. The game resumed, with Alter Ego still trying to attack their opponents.

The second Lord battle ensued. Arfy managed to take down Uk1r. Aphro and Xyve countered, and another teamfight ensued in the mid area. The battle for the second Lord was fierce, and Alter Ego secured the second Lord. Straight pushes were launched, and El Familia attempted to destroy Navi's base. The Lord was stopped, and a teamfight ensued in the 18th minute, with Karss being taken down.

The loss of Karss paved the way for Alter Ego to victory. Nino managed to retrieve Aphro, and Alter Ego finally earned match point. Game 4 proved disastrous for Natus Vincere, as Alter Ego took a step closer to victory. Yazuke's Hayabusa play was unstoppable. Navi's defensive turrets disappeared one by one, paving the way for Alter Ego to victory.

El Familia secured the first Lord, immediately attacking the opposing base. Bruno Xyve was defeated, Alter Ego successfully penetrated Navi's base, and El Familia ultimately won the battle 3-1.
