Counter-Strike 2 is the newest FPS game released this month. The game that serves as the sequel to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has managed to gain extraordinary popularity. As an FPS game, Counter-Strike 2's gameplay mechanism is similar. Plus, with the presence of Counter-Strike 2 using the Source 2 engine, it implements several new features that feel similar to those in Valorant.
Because of these similarities, this time, Dunia Games will summarize several features in Counter-Strike 2 that are similar to or similar to those in Valorant.
1. Rounds Required to Win
In Counter-Strike, the number of rounds in competitive play is 30 rounds, with the first team to win 16 rounds being the winner of the game. This time with the presence of Counter-Strike 2, Valve removed the short-term competitive mode and changed every match to MR12 format.
So the maximum number of rounds in one game will be 24 and the team that wins 13 rounds first will win the game. This new amount is the same as the existing provisions in Valorant. Many fans appreciate this change, as there will be fewer gun-saving rounds.
2. Colorful Graphics
One of the most obvious changes in Counter-Strike 2 compared to the previous series is the change to a more lively and colorful design. This also happens because of the graphical improvements brought by the Source 2 engine. However, some assume that this change to a more colorful map is what the development team wanted for this latest game. This makes Counter-Strike 2 look similar to the appearance of the Valorant map.
3. Grid Purchasing Menu
Another aspect of the newest appearance that is present in Counter-Strike 2 and has succeeded in providing changes is the UI of the purchase menu in the game. If you pay attention to the UI in the purchase menu, it has a grid or box style like what Valorant previously had. This increasingly makes many players believe that Counter-Strike 2 will adopt the purchasing interface from Valorant.
4. Able to Refund Weapons
One of the latest updates from Valve in Counter-Strike 2 is adding the ability to refund or sell weapons again after purchasing them. This is very beneficial for the player, especially if the player accidentally buys something in purchase mode, and it will be a big loss if the player cannot sell it again. But once again, this feature apparently already existed in Valorant at this time. This purchase menu will appear at the start of the round or at the end of each round, so there is a limited time provided for players to take advantage of the time to purchase weapons.
5. Crosshair Follows Weapon's Recoil
You can activate a feature in the Counter-Strike 2 game called Follow Recoil, where this feature is the most obvious feature inspired by Valorant. When you activate this setting, your crosshair will follow the recoil pattern of the weapon you are using and make it easier for you to see where you are aiming. This new feature may feel strange at first for some players who are used to the CS: GO recoil pattern so it is quite difficult when spraying this activated feature. Experienced players who may be familiar with the follow recoil feature will be able to shoot accurately and take out many enemies.

6. Map Radar Shows Footsteps' Sounds
In Counter-Strike 2, the developers have updated the in-game radar system to the mini-map section of your game screen. Now, the mini-map will display a visual indicator of how far your footsteps or movements can be heard by nearby enemies. So when you run, jump, or land, there will be a visual indication on the radar of how far your voice can be heard by the enemy. Apart from movement, activities you do such as firing weapons will also be visible on the radar. This mark is in the form of a circle that encircles your position on the mini-map.
7. Similar Weapons
Apart from the similarities in the weapon purchase menu, this time some of the weapons available in Counter-Strike 2 are also inspired by what Valorant has. For example, dividing the grid into 5 different pistol options, 5 intermediate weapons such as submachine guns and shotguns, and 5 rifles and carbines. Several similar types of weapons exist in CS2 and Valorant, for example, Valorant's Sheriff is similar to the Desert Eagle in CS2. The Marshal is similar to the SSG 08 in CS2, Valorant's mainstay weapon, the Vandal, is present in CS2 in the form of the AK-47. The operator's flagship sniper in Valorant is also similar to the AWP sniper in CS2.
8. Grenade Landing Shows
Now in Counter-Strike 2, you can preview the landing point of grenades or other throwing materials such as smoke bombs, molotovs, flash, etc. before they are thrown. This feature only appears in practice mode, but even though it is not the main gameplay feature, it is quite helpful for those who are not yet familiar with the grenade use UI in CS2. Because it is quite difficult to use grenades and get them accurately in CS2. Valve added this feature to make the approach easier for new players to learn.
9. Anti-Cheat Automatically Stops the Match
Counter-Strike 2 is known to have a new anti-cheat system using VAC Live which may be an improvement on the previous anti-cheat used by Valve. The visible difference in this new system is how the system works. Just like Valorant's Vanguard, the anti-cheat system in Counter-Strike 2 will prohibit and prevent cheaters from using hacks such as aimbots, wall hacks, spin botting, and other cheats in the middle of a match. So, this anti-cheat system will stop the match and warn players if cheating is detected during the match.
10. The Overall UI is Similar
Overall, we see that there are many changes to the UI elements in Counter-Strike 2, and when compared to Valorant which was previously familiar among FPS fans. Perhaps you will feel the same way because of the similarities in the UI between the two games. For example, the health indicators and amount of ammunition in the UI are now at the bottom of the center. Then the score and time instructions are at the top, similar to those in Valorant. This is what makes Counter-Strike 2 look similar when compared in terms of appearance to Valorant.
So, those are some of the new things in Counter-Strike 2 and they feel similar to the features in Valorant. What do you think? Are the two games really similar?
