The MCU’s Phase Five finale, Thunderbolts, is reportedly around two hours long, following Marvel’s recent trend of shorter runtimes. If accurate, this places it in line with Deadpool & Wolverine (2 hours 8 minutes) and Captain America: Brave New World (1 hour 58 minutes), making it shorter than the MCU’s average runtime of 2 hours 15 minutes.

Directed by Jake Schreier (Beef), Thunderbolts follows a group of former villains led by Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) under the orders of Contessa Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) takes center stage as she struggles with the trauma of losing Natasha Romanoff. Schreier describes her emotional journey as the heart of the film.

The team also includes Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), facing off against the mysterious Sentry (Lewis Pullman), who appears in the trailer wearing a restraint jacket.

The asterisk (*) in Thunderbolts has sparked major speculation. Harbour and Kurylenko hinted at a significant shift in the MCU, though its exact meaning remains unclear.

Following the events of Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts is expected to have a major impact on Phase Six. The film premieres this May!
