Starting from April 19, 2020, Indonesia will be the host for an international-level tournament called Free Fire Champions Cup 2020 that will be participated by 12 international esports teams. The 12 teams are originated from four continents around the world, such as Asia, Africa, Europe, and America.

Hans Kurniadi Saleh as the Director of Garena Indonesia said that choosing Indonesia as the host for Free Fire Champions Cup 2020 after a long negotiation and ‘bidding’ processes.

Indonesia becomes the second country in Southeast Asia that serves as the host after Thailand which successfully held Free Fire World Cup 2019 in Bangkok with EVOS as the winner.

This event also participated with the Minister of Kementrian Kreatif dan Badan Pariwisata, Wishnutama Kusubandio who is pleased and happy with such occurrence. Wishnutama also said that the video game sector becomes one of their duty as the Creative Ministry to develop the game.

And from the tourism sector, Wishnutama stated that esports event like this can be the perfect way to introduce Indonesian cultures into the world; to invite foreign tourists to increase nations’ foreign exchange.

Wishnutama also said that the esports industry nowadays has run properly,” When the industry has run properly, that means esports here has run the same way as well. The government only takes part as a supporter, not always about money”.

Gatot also added that with this event, Indonesia can be the host for the 2032 Olympics. And then for the team that will represent Indonesia in this tournament will pick up the winner from FFIM in March.

Hearing this news, the Telkomsel Esports Manager who had been a long time working in this part, Rezaly Surya Afhany (Bang Jaly) was very happy as Indonesia was chosen to be the host for an international esports event, Free Fire Champions Cup 2020.

"I’m very happy and proud as Indonesia chosen in this part due to Garena Indonesia for the first time serves as the host for an international esports event called Free Fire Champions Cup (FFCC) 2020 which will be held in Jakarta on April 19.”

He also said that the industry, as well as the esports development in Indonesia nowadays, had been more respected both regionally and globally. If we're looking at the revenue, monthly active users, and payload traffics, Free Fire still dominates to this day.

"I think that FFCC can help the local esports’ industry to be more respected and more conducive, both regionally and globally. As we all know, from the revenue, monthly active users, and payload traffics from Free Fire, the game dominates all to this day.”

He also disappointed that DG Esports couldn't reach the Free Fire Indonesia Master (FFIM) Grand Final via Free Fire Indonesia Master (FFIM) S1 -- where now must they must pass the Playoff Qualifier rounds. Even so, he still required supports from all of you to make DG Esports better.

"For DG Esports, even though they cannot proceed to the Free Fire Indonesia Master (FFIM) Grand Final via Free Fire Indonesia Master (FFIM) S1, then they must participate in Playoff Qualifier first. We will keep on fighting and perform better in the future. We need all of your support and pray for DG Esports.”

Then, talking about FFML and FFIM, Bang Jaly added that this Free Fire competition was excellent to refine young talents that could make history for the nation in the future.

He believed in Garena Indonesia’s concept to provide an open chance for all teams in tournaments or leagues that had occurred. Because he thought that this concept would make Indonesian esports on grassroots and pro level grow together."I believe Garena Indonesia has excellent esports concept and very open by giving a chance for each team to participate in leagues held by Garena Indonesia. So, the esports on grassroots and pro level can grow together”.
