Pieck Finger is one of the characters in Attack on Titan that often get overlooked by viewers of the series. Yet she has a significant fanbase who adore her for her looks. And, there are some things that you probably didn’t know about Pieck Finger from Shingeki no Kyojin (AoT).

1. Debuted in Season 3 Episode 16, and Chapter 74 in the Manga

Even the most loyal fans may be unaware of Pieck’s debut in the story. Because Pieck actually had her debut earlier than you might think.

Pieck first made her appearance as the Cart Titan in episode 16 of Season 3, and Chapter 75 (Volume 18) in the manga.

2. One of the Titan Shifters

Of the nine Titan Shifters in the series, Pieck Finger is one of them as she possesses the power of the Cart Titan. The Cart Titan is a quadrupedal Titan with high endurance, meaning that Pieck is able to stay in her Titan form for a long period of time.

Pieck is also able to turn into this form multiple times without having to take a rest -- unlike most Titan Shifters. The Cart Titan is also able to match a Jaw Titan’s speed.

Pieck is also one of the users of Titan powers who can speak fluently in her Titan form.

3. Able to Stay in Her Titan Form for 2 Months

Although the Cart Titan is known for its endurance, many fans aren’t aware that Pieck can maintain her Titan form for 2 months. As a matter of fact, since Pieck can stay in this form for a long time, her muscle memory often makes her act like a Cart Titan even when she’s in her human form.

Pieck’s endurance is really exceptional given that most Titan Shifters can only hold their form for a couple of hours.

Pieck also said that she could turn into her Titan form hundreds of times without feeling tired.

4. She Often Forgets How to Walk

Pieck is able to keep her Titan form for an incredibly long time as it is the special thing about being a user of the Cart Titan power. However, since the Cart Titan is a quadrupedal Titan, Pieck often forgets how to walk with two legs after keeping her Titan form for a long time.

During the battle of Marley, Pieck mentioned that she’s been in her Cart Titan form for months. As a result, she had to regain her muscle memory to walk up straight.

Pieck has also been seen walking on all four while in her human form.

5. The Shortest Among the Titans

Unlike other Titan Shifters, who mostly stand around 10 meters on average, Pieck’s Cart Titan is “only” 4 meters -- making her the shortest Titan. Furthermore, the quadrupedal walk of the Cart Titan makes her look even shorter.

However, being “only” 4 meters tall, Cart Titan has so many advantages, such as higher mobility that can match up with Jaw Titan's, and can also be equipped with armaments.

6. Serves Marley for the Freedom of the Eldians

Pieck is the only character in Attack on Titan that respects both sides of the war -- the Marleyans and the Eldians. Although she’s been serving for the Marleyan army since her childhood, Pieck longs to see the Eldians granted more freedom.

She uses her intelligence to show that the Eldians are more than just second-class citizens. Pieck always prefers peaceful resolutions to end the war. Therefore, she’s willing to set her interests aside to stop Eren Yeager.

7. Doesn’t Care About the Marleyans, But Cares Deeply About Her Comrades

Even though she’s been serving for the Marleyan army since her childhood, Pieck actually doesn’t care that much about Marley, yet she cares deeply about her comrades, especially the Warrior candidates, like Porco and Gabi.

Pieck once told Gabi that she wouldn’t betray her comrades, despite not having any faith in the Marleyans.

8. Becoming a Warrior to Save Her Father

Most Warriors have a similar goal in their mind: freedom and glory for both Marley and the Eldians.

However, Pieck is the only Warrior who doesn’t share that mindset. Although she welcomes the idea of freedom for the Eldians, the main reason for her becoming a Warrior is to save her sick father.

As an Eldian living in Marley, Pieck’s father didn’t have the access to survive his condition. Thus, Pieck had to sacrifice her life to save him.

9. Lost Her Mothers Since Childhood

Most characters in Attack on Titan have a dark past, and it’s the same with Pieck. Having lost her mother since early in her childhood and always treated as a pariah in Marley, Pieck doesn’t hold any hatred towards anyone -- she always fights for peace.

10. She Compensates Her Frail Physicality with Her Intelligence

Many would argue that the Cart Titan is the weakest of the bunch due to its size, with a high endurance as its only benefit. However, Pieck’s ingenuity, both in her human or Titan form, makes her one of the most powerful Titan Shifters.

There are many other Titans that could utterly wipe her out in a battle, but Pieck always comes up with the right strategies to outwit her matchup. That’s why she’s been able to survive in a cruel world, where one mistake can easily lead to death.

11. A Unique, Armed Titan

The reason why Pieck’s Cart Titan is one of the strongest, versatile Titans is the fact that she can be equipped with various armaments. So far, we’ve seen that Cart Titan has been equipped with more than two different sets of attachments for warfare purposes.

As a matter of fact, the Cart Titan can also be mounted with various armaments that significantly boost her effectiveness in battles.

12. A Kind-Hearted Character

Pieck isn’t like most of the characters in the series who only care about the survival of themselves or their own people. As mentioned before, Pieck always seeks peaceful resolutions between the two sides of the war, although she’s been treated as a pariah.

Pieck is the opposite of Eren, who sparked a war based on having a traumatic past. In fact, despite all the hardships she’s gone through, Pieck never incites violence nor hatred.

Although she doesn’t trust the Marleyans, she still cares about others -- especially her comrades, such as Gabi, Falco, Reiner, etc.

13. The Original Character Design was Supposed to be an Older Man

Before her human form was shown in the series, many fans speculated that the owner of the Cart Titan power was a middle-aged man since most Titans carry the facial features of the user. As it turned out, the quadrupedal Titan’s power is owned by a quiet, frail-looking girl!

Hajime Isayama initially planned to make the owner of the Cart Titan power as a middle-aged man named Oliver Pieck, but after his editor talked him into it, Isayama decided to make Pieck Finger instead.

If Oliver Pieck ended up being the owner of the power, perhaps the Cart Titan wouldn’t be as popular as it is now.

14. Adored by Fans for Her Appearance

Pieck Finger is considered one of the most attractive characters in the series by many fans. Pieck is a girl with messy long black hair, a pointy nose, and relaxed dark brown eyes. She often wears a white blouse, a long trench coat, and a skirt that reaches down to her ankles.

Her rather simple look turns out to be the thing that makes many fans adore her, especially after her debut in the anime. 

It’s not surprising to see many people consider Pieck Finger as waifu material, although there are other female characters that are more popular than her.

15. Ranks 21st in Character Popularity Poll

Despite the number of fans that Pieck has, she’s actually not that popular among the general viewers of the series. Evidently, in the third character popularity poll, Pieck only ranks 21st, ties with Connie Springer and Gabi Braun.
