The Eldlich the Golden Lord currently dominates the Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel META, with lots of duelists hating on this deck as it can be so difficult to counter. Be it in lower or higher Ranks, you’ll at least have a difficult time dealing with any player using this deck.

Although it can be intimidating, the Eldlich deck is relatively easy to play – as long as you have a decent understanding of the main trap cards.

It can be quite expensive to build the Eldlich deck as you’ll need a good number of SR and UR cards to maximize the potential of the deck and make it difficult for your opponents to counter it.

However, the extra deck isn’t really necessary, you can bring a Superdreadnought Rail Cannon or not at all.

How to Play the Eldlich Deck

Unlike most META decks in Master Duel, Eldlich is a rather easy deck to play. You just need to utilize all of the Trap and Spell cards that are all focused on summoning Eldlich the Golden Lord, as it is the crucial card to have for you to win games.

Eldlich offers several effects. First, it allows the player to discard one Spell or Trap card to destroy one Spell or Trap Card on the opponent’s field. When Eldlich is in the graveyard, the player can send a Spell or Trap Card to get Eldlich back into their hand.

Then, players can special summon a Zombie monster from their hand – which will always be Eldlich the Golden Lord.

And that’s the most irritating thing about this Eldlich Deck as the staple cards in this deck hinder the opponents from pulling off certain combos.

Understand the Main Trap Cards

Eldlixir and Golden Lands are the crucial cards in this deck. You’ll have three different kinds of Eldlixir cards; Black Awakening, White Destiny, and Scarlet Sanguine – cards that allow you to special summon a Zombie card from hand or graveyard. 

Basically, they all have the same effect. If the player doesn’t have any other Zombie card, these cards will summon Eldlich – which is exactly the card that you are trying to pull.

You can also discard Eldlixir cards from the graveyard to draw Golden Land cards such as Huaquero of the Golden Land, Conquistador of the Golden Land, and Golden Land Forever! from the deck and play them.

Use Continuous Trap Cards to Stop the Opponent’s Combo

The Eldlich deck boasts Continuous Trap cards that will slow down the tempo of the game and prevent the opponent from pulling off their combos – you can frustrate your opponent by activating your Continuous Trap cards.

Your main card will be Gozen Match, a card that forces both players to only control 1 Attribute of Monster, while all other face-up monsters will be sent to the graveyard.

Once you have Eldlich on the field, you can use Vanity’s Emptiness to prevent your opponent from special summoning monsters or pulling off certain combos.

Aside from that, you have Imperial Order, which is the core of the Eldlich deck. This card will negate all spell effects for 700 LP per turn. As this deck doesn’t rely much on Spell cards, Imperial Order has little effect on Eldlich.

Last but not least, we have Skill Drain, a card that requires its user to pay 1000 LP to negate the effects of all face-up monsters on the field.
