Gol D. Roger was the figure with the most influence in the One Piece series. He was the one who triggered the One Piece Era, where pirates started competing to find the treasure, One Piece. This time, Dunia Games would like to discuss the person who inspired Eiichiro Oda on making Gol D. Roger.

Every character that Eiichiro Oda created in One Piece is inspired and based on characters in the real world, including Pirate King Gol D. Roger. Roger was inspired by Captain Olivier Levasseur, who is also known as the Pirate King in the real world. He is known as one of the greatest pirates in the world. Here's a little story about him!

Olivier was a French pirate who used to operate near Madagascar. He had been through many battles and recruited many crews. He also had a lot of battle wounds and scars. What's worse, he almost lost one of his eyes, to the point he used an eye patch to cover the wound.

He was also known as a pirate who couldn't bear to finish off his opponent in a cruel way. Olivier also often attacked kingdoms to rob their treasures. Although cruel, Olivier was a very kind captain. He distributed all the golds, jewelry, and other possessions fairly to his entire crew.

Sometime later, Olivier became the most wanted criminal. He also once held an event and asked all pirates to stop their activities for a moment. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Upon hearing this, the French government was forced to retrieve the treasure he had looted.

Olivier hid in Seychelles but was later caught in Madagascar. Finally, he was hanged in 1730. Before his execution, he threw a necklace at the people around the execution site. The necklace he threw had some codes and a message written on it, and anyone who can crack the code can have all of Olivier's treasure that he hid somewhere.

Interestingly, no one has been able to find the treasure until now. Based on his actions, he looks like Gol D. Roger in the series. Before being sentenced to death, he spoke aloud that his treasure, One Piece, was hidden somewhere. He also said that the total assets kept by Captain Olivier amounted to more than 1 billion Pound Sterling.

The code written on the necklace is too difficult to crack. There are even some French treasure hunters who are still trying to find the treasure to this day. So, what kind of treasure did Roger leave at Laugh Tale? Is that the same as Captain Olivier’s? We'll just have to wait!

So that’s the real-life person that inspired Oda on making Gol D. Roger in One Piece. If you find this article interesting, share it with your friends. Stay tuned at Dunia Games for more articles and don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
