Three years after a financially unsuccessful reboot attempt, a new Ghostbuster film is ready to satisfy fans of the franchise, this time as a sequel from the original movie released in 1984. Titled Ghostbuster: Afterlife, the first trailer was released on Tuesday (10/12) early this morning.

From this trailer, it seems that Ghostbuster: Afterlife will be very different than its predecessors. If we usually watch the ghost hunters go hunt in New York City, in this new film, it seems that a remote town in the US will be the main location for these ghost hunters to get in action.

While the Ghostbusters usually consist of adult scientists, in this one, it appears that the new generation of Ghostbusters will be made up of children and teenagers. It also seems -again, from the trailer- that this film more suitable to be categorized as an action-horror movie than a comedy-horror, which was the usual genre for the Ghostbusters franchise.

In the movie directed by Jason Reitman, we will follow Trevor (Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things) and Phoebe (McKenna Grace), who got to move to a remote town due to financial problems facing their family. In that town, Trevor and Phobe live in a house inherited by their late grandfather.

Surprisingly, Trevor and Phoebe found various Ghostbusters’ original equipment, including the uniform, belongs to (Egon) Spangler. Yet according to their school teacher (Paul Rudd from Ant-Man), the ghosts and the hunting equipment have not been seen since 30 years ago. Does this mean that Trevor and Phoebe’s granddad was an original member of Ghostbusters?

The question hasn’t answered yet, Trevor and Phoebe have to face another problem with the town going through various paranormal events. Can Trevor and Phoebe save the city with the equipment they found in their new house?

Harold Ramis, the actor who played Egon Spangler in the original Ghostbusters, passed away in 2014. But it is likely that other actors from the original film such as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts will make a return in this film. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is planned to start airing on July 10, 2020.
