Universitas Gunadarma’s esports team ends the LIMA Esports 2021 With Kopi Caffino Mobile Legends Bang Bang as the Western Region champion. The LIMA Esports 2020 defending champion managed to stop Universitas Sumatera Utara in a 2-0 clean sweep on Sunday, October 10. 

Universitas Gunadarma features four teams in this event. However, their main team consists of Ikbar Bariqalaa (Voker), Satria Syifa (Mouvee), Muhammad Daffa (Cazee), Irwan Sulistio (Nawri), and Juan Alberto (Alberto). Universitas Gunadarma’s dominance has been apparent since the beginning of the competition. 

The Depok-based team made its way to the semifinals after defeating tough opponents like Institut Teknologi Sumatera, Universitas Atmajaya Yogyakarta, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Tanjungpura, and Universitas Budi Luhur. In the semifinals, Universitas Gunadarma once again was able to overcome another big challenge by defeating Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta. 

In the regionals finals, Universitas Gunadarma faced Universitas Sumatera Utara. The match was held in a best-of-three (BO3), and Universitas Gunadarma came out on top in a 2-0 victory.

In Game 1, Universitas Gunadarma managed to rack up 25 kills compared to USU’s 11 kills. In Game 2, Universitas Gunadarma solidified its dominance by racking up 25 kills compared to USU’s 3 kills. 

“We’re glad to win the Western Region. Given the tough teams we played against in this region, (securing) the title is unpredictable. However, with teamwork, the bond between players, focus, hard work and evaluations of the game are the strengths of our team that lead us to the title.” Islamiati Nita Hidayat, the Manager of Universitas Gunadarma esports team, said. 

Universitas Gunadarma’s victory was even more special as Ikbar Bariqalaa won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title. This extends the series of titles Ikbar had won as he won the same title at the LIMA Esports 2020. 

“Alhamdulillah, I’m so happy to be able to defend the MVP title. This title is certainly not just a personal one. I dedicate this MVP title to all Universitas Gunadarma players who have fought alongside each other.” Ikbar said.

In the team’s effort to defend the LIMA Esports title, Universitas Gunadarma switches its focus to the LIMA Esports 2021 With Kopi Caffino MLBB Nationals. The LIMA Esports 2021 culminates with the best teams from the Western and Eastern Regions and will take place from October 23-24.
