The main character in Death Note, Light Yagami is a genius. Yet he went insane with power after obtaining the Death Note, which allows the user to kill someone just by writing down their names. He killed numerous people with justice as his justification, without feeling any remorse.

Hisoka doesn’t hesitate to kill anyone once he believes that they met his standards -- regardless of their age or gender.

5. Shou Tucker, Fullmetal Alchemist

Shou Tucker is probably one of the psychotic characters highly despised by many Fullmetal Alchemist fans. Although he’s not the main character nor does he plays a big role in the story, Shou did atrocious things. He’s an alchemist who’s deeply obsessed with chimera and has done numerous experiments combining two living creatures to make chimeras.

Disturbingly, Shou also crossed his dog with his own daughter to create a chimera. But that’s not all, Shou also admitted that he’s done the same thing to his wife. That’s why Shou Tucker obviously deserved to be called one of the most disturbing psychotic characters ever.

Yuno Gasai’s brutal nature derives from her childhood, where she’s being abused constantly by her mother, which also ended with a death.

7. Lucy, Elfen Lied

Initially, Lucy was depicted as a sweet innocent character. However, over time, Lucy became a sadistic character who doesn’t hesitate to kill anyone because of her power.

8. Sonozaki Shion, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Almost every character in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is psychotic. However, Shion is the most brutal out of the bunch -- despite her sweet appearance. She’s so shrewd and manipulative in turning things around for her advantage.

Her background made her shunned by her peers and created a sense of despair which triggered her rage.

9. Kotonoha Katsura, School Days

Kotonoha is an intelligent, gentle, polite, and well-educated girl with a reserved character. Having almost no social life, she’s very dependent and devoted to Makoto. However, it comes with a consequence. Whenever Makoto leaves her and she can’t have him, she feels sorrow and desperation that drive her berserk, killing anyone that she believes has stolen Makoto from her.

10. Johan Liebert, Monster

Johan Liebert is a manipulative character who can turn people into killing each other, while he’d just sit and enjoy the scene.
