Man-Thing is a terrifying figure who lives in the Everglades of Florida while guarding the Nexus of Reality. He was originally a human named Ted Sallis who fell into a swamp and then entered the water that brought science and magic together.

Isaac Christian becomes a Gargoyle as part of a deal with the demon Avarrish to help restore prosperity to his city. However, his betrayal leaves him trapped in his disgusting new body.

Gargoyle's transformation is an example of what happens when one doesn't consider who he is in cahoots with. Even though Isaac tried to change his life, he was still unable to do so.

Sauron

A classic X-Men villain, Dr. Karl Lykos was bitten by a mutant pterodactyl as a child and turned into a monstrous vampire. After then absorbing Havok's power, Lykos unlocked his pterodactyl form and became a dinosaur-man known as Sauron.

A few times Sauron has proven that a character with intelligence like this is very important to maintain in the comics. No wonder his mind and strength are indeed a valuable asset for him to become a criminal.
