Kimetsu no Yaiba is full of compelling characters, one of which is Kamado Tanjiro. The protagonist of the anime is certainly one of the reasons why Kimetsu no Yaiba is such a popular series with massive followings. Some might even say that Tanjiro is arguably one of the most memorable protagonists in anime.

However, as some of us may notice, Kimetsu no Yaiba has lots of unique characters who can easily replace Tanjiro’s role as the main character — and here are those characters.

1. Muzan Kibutsuji

Muzan Kibutsuji is the most powerful demon and the main antagonist of the series. He was weak before; but after he turned into a demon, he killed almost the entire Kamado family, thus making him the main threat in Kimetsu no Yaiba. 

A show where the most powerful demon is the main character would be an exciting experience, especially now that we’ve seen several series with a less-than-ideal protagonist where we can learn about the perspective of the evil character.

Muzan Kibutsuji’s perspective as a pure demon would certainly be an interesting thing to watch.

2. Shinobu Kocho

Since her first appearance in the series, lots of Kimetsu no Yaiba fans have considered Shinobu Kocho as one of the best characters. Her smooth voice, charming looks, and hatred towards demons behind her calm demeanor make her a compelling character.

It’s also revealed later on in the series that Shinobu Kocho also has a tragic backstory. Bear in mind that she’s the creator and only user of the Insect Breathing Style, giving her the trait of an anime protagonist.

3. Nezuko Kamado

Despite Nezuko’s popularity being at the same level as her brother among fans of the series — it would still be an interesting idea to see a spin-off where she’s the main focus of the story.

Kimetsu no Yaiba is known for having an amazing ensemble of dynamic characters with many layers. However, the fact that Nezuko doesn’t have her own aspiration or goal aside from protecting her "family", makes her a rather flat character. A series that focuses on Nezuko’s identity from her own perspective would be an amazing spin-off.

4. Rengoku Kyojuro

It’s not a far-off idea to see the optimistic, strong, and intelligent Rengoku as the main character. As the Fire Pillar has already had a spin-off in which he’s the main character. Although he had to leave the original series a bit too early – which brought many fans to tears – a spin-off manga series that focuses on Rengoku was announced soon after the final chapter of the main series was released.

5. Tengen Uzui

Tengen Uzui’s popularity among Kimetsu no Yaiba fans is undoubtedly high. Despite the controversial fact of having three wives, his confidence, eccentricity, and striking personality have made many fans fall in love with him.

It’s highly likely to see the flamboyant Tengen Uzui being the main character in a harem/romcom/shounen spin-off with his wives, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru.
