At Sony's State of Play event on Thursday, June 2, 2022, CAPCOM revealed that they are developing a remake of Resident Evil 4 that will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 24, 2023. CAPCOM also acknowledges that Resident Evil 4 Remake will have a reimagined storyline, and new graphic artwork based on CAPCOM's RE engine.

CAPCOM previously released Resident Evil 4 for GameCube and later for PlayStation 2 in 2005. Since then, CAPCOM has ported the game to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS devices, Android, and PC. The game was also released on Nintendo Switch in May 2019.

The game is also getting a new virtual reality version for the Oculus Quest 2 headset system in October 2021. The game's story follows Leon S. Kennedy as he tries to save the daughter of the president of the United States who was kidnapped in Spain. Which Resident Evil 4 characters will also appear in the Remake version? 1. Leon Scott Kennedy

Leon Scott Kennedy is an Italian American currently employed as a federal agent by the Division of Security Operations (D.S.O.), a counter-terrorism agency with direct oversight of the President. Leon is known to have survived the Raccoon City destruction incident in 1998, when Leon was working as a police officer. After escaping, he is offered a job in the US.STRATCOM team dedicated to fighting anti-B.O.W. (biological weapons) and served until 2011 in operations around the world.

In 2004, during the events of Resident Evil 4, President Graham's daughter was kidnapped on her way home from the University of Massachusetts. American spies have reported seeing the girl named Ashley Graham in Spain and tracking her to a mysterious community in an isolated village. Leon was sent alone to investigate the mysterious area.

2. Ada Wong

Ada Wong is the pseudonym of a mysterious, unnamed Asian-American spy. She has gained fame in the spy world for being able to handle any situation as well as even the most difficult missions. She acts secretly behind various biohazard incidents and gathers information that becomes useful to the several organizations that recruited her.

However, Ada only follows her own true agenda and often betrays various organizations and customers affiliated with her to achieve her mysterious agenda.

In 2004, Ada Wong's loyalty to The Organization was again questioned. After obtaining evidence that Wesker had been involved in dealings with TRICELL Africa since the last collapse of the Umbrella company in 2003, his senior role became a threat. Thanks to Ada Wong, The Organization became aware of a biological weapons R&D project in Spain by Los Illuminados due to a leak from one of its senior researchers, Dr. Luis Sera.

This project utilizes parasitic organisms to turn humans into useful dolls. Wesker will instead assign one of his own students, Jack Krauser, on a mission to obtain the "dominant species Plagas", a parasite that will give orders to others without taking over the mind of the person it is hosting. When Krauser fails to return in time with his parasite samples, The Organization uses the opportunity to their own advantage, and prompts Wesker to assign Wong on the same mission as well.

3. Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham is the daughter of the President of the United States named Graham. He was briefly taken prisoner by the Spanish cult Los Illuminados as a means to gain control of the United States presidency.

In Resident Evil 4, in 2004, Ashley is kidnapped by Jack Krauser, a mercenary who works for Osmund Saddler of Los Illuminados, while returning from his college in Massachusetts. He is taken to a remote village somewhere in Spain, where he is apparently being held captive by Los Illuminados.

4. President Graham

President Graham is an American politician who served as President of the United States from 2001 to 2009. In Resident Evil 4, almost coinciding with the general election for President Graham's successful second term in the Fall of 2004, Graham experiences personal tragedy when his daughter, Ashley, is kidnapped by the Spanish paramilitary group Los Iluminados.

The group, led by a false prophet named Osmund Saddler, have genetically engineered a type of B.O.W. nicknamed Las Plagas which forces its host to take orders from Saddler's chosen men. With Ashley kidnapped, the group plans to turn her into a parasitic host of its own capable of implanting parasites in others around President Graham.

Soon after the kidnapping, the plan was thwarted by the United States Marines. Leon S. Kennedy and Ashley were able to return to the United States safely.

5. Ingrid Hannigan

Ingrid Hannigan is a United States government agent for the F.O.S. and often works closely with Leon S. Kennedy. Hannigan works with Leon for the first time in the story game Resident Evil 4 on his mission to save the President's daughter, Ashley Graham. She would occasionally contact Leon to ask how the mission was going or to give him information.

When Leon entered Ramon Salazar's castle, unfortunately, Hannigan lost contact with him for a few hours because Los Illuminados hijacked their line of communication.

Leon once tried to flirt with Hannigan, telling her she was really cute without her glasses on and asking for her number when Leon returned from his mission. However Hannigan remained professional and reminded Leon that he was still on duty at the time, but secretly a happy smile spread across Hannigan's lips.

6. Jack Krauser

Jack Krauser was the third agent for The Organization during the war on terror, and a supporter of Dr. Albert Wesker. Previously Krauser was a soldier at USSOCOM known as "Silverdax," he was forced to retire after a 2002 mission to South America with USSTRATCOM agent Leon S. Kennedy.

While working at The Organization, Krauser took part in the infiltration of Los Illuminados to obtain the Plagas parasite. Krauser was killed in late 2004 by Ada Wong, who was ordered by her agency to steal the parasite.

7. Dr. Luis Sera

Dr. Luis Sera is a biologist who hails from remote areas of Spain in the story game Resident Evil 4. He is recruited into the Los Illuminados research department into the Plagas experiments and genetically engineered biological weapons, and is eventually killed in his quest to prevent their evil Los Illuminados plans. 

8. Osmund Saddler

Osmund Saddler is the main villain in Resident Evil 4, often referred to as Lord Saddler. This false prophet is the leader of Los Illuminados, a neopagan cult as well as a paramilitary organization. He is the head of research for B.O.W. who live in isolated areas of Spain.

In the early 2000s, Saddler's leadership ensured cult dominance in the region through the parasitic arsenal of Plagas that controlled the minds of many to fit into his plans for world domination. He was killed in 2004 by the USSTRATCOM mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the President's daughter who was being held hostage by the organization Saddler led.

9. Ramon Salazar

Ramon Salazar is a nobleman from an unnamed rural area in the country of Spain. He was the eighth castellan to rule the region since his castle was founded, with positions that have been passed down for generations.

As the 21st century came, Salazar abandoned his Catholic faith and converted to Los Illuminados, a sect led by Osmund Saddler, who had access to biological weapons research and was interested in Las Plagas. Although his small stature resembled that of a ten year old child, and his gray hair and wrinkled face made him look like an old man, Salazar was only 20 years old.

10. Weapon Merchant

Weapon Merchant is a mysterious Ganado character that appears in Resident Evil 4 as a means for players to upgrade, sell, and buy weapons. He was an arms dealer wearing a long black coat. A pale blue flame marked the location of his shop, and he seemed capable of traveling long distances in the blink of an eye.

He carried a wide selection of weapons in his large backpack and coat. It was clear from his appearance that he was a ganado, but he didn't seem to see outsiders as a threat, and would deal with anyone who would buy his wares. No one knows how he got his hands on the weapon, but the merchandise is enough to impress Leon.
