You must have seen and heard some terms related to graphics card or VGA. With the development of the times, there are more terms used because most of them abbreviate a number of the latest features and technologies.
But for most people, they don't know the various terms, especially now there are many choices of GPUs which have other features that confuse customers. Well, knowing the basic terms of the specifications of a graphics card turns out to have its own benefits, in addition to expanding our knowledge, it also makes it easier for us when looking for the ideal GPU according to our needs.

1. GPU
GPU or Graphic Processing Unit is a processor consisting of many smaller and more specialized cores. The GPU will be in charge of rendering images, animations, and videos that will be displayed on your laptop or desktop screen. It is located not far from the main brain of the computer, namely the CPU on the motherboard. The GPU’s function is to process graphics and display them on the computer screen. In addition to processing graphics, GPUs can also perform parallel computing on large amounts of data. So that users want to do activities with many non-graphical applications that require repeated and continuous computing, the GPU will really help ease the work.
2. PCI Express
For those of you who often assemble PCs, you must be familiar with the term PCI Express. The term PCI Express (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) or abbreviated PCIe is a standard bus expansion computer that has high speed. More simply, this term is defined as an interconnect that connects a device with other devices, for example connecting a graphics card to a processor or connecting a sound card to a southbridge or chipset.
For example, a video card device that has a PCIe 3.0 x16 interconnect will give the best performance if the motherboard used also supports PCIe 3.0 and has a PCIe x16 slot. However, if the motherboard only supports PCIe 2.0 slots, then the graphics card that supports PCIe 3.0 will also match the speeds supported by 2.0.
3. Memory Bandwidth
The term memory bandwidth is usually used for users who want to have a graphics card with the best performance. The greater the memory bandwidth of the graphics card, the better the ability of the graphics card to process images or data. The term memory bandwidth is also not only on the graphics card, but also on the RAM.
4. Core Clock
The core clock on the GPU refers to the speed of the GPU itself. Like a clock, it defines how many revolutions the GPU can make in one second. The greater the core clock frequency that the GPU has, the more it is currently being used. Therefore, the core clock value is always written in MHz value units, the higher the clock speed value, the faster the VGA card will work.
5. Memory clock
Memory clock is the speed that the RAM on the GPU has in transferring data to the CPU, and vice versa. The faster the memory clock value, the faster the graphic data transfer process will run. The memory clock value is represented by units of MHz, which means the number of revolutions in seconds.

6. CUDA Core
When you look at the specifications on a graphics card, you definitely come across the term CUDA Cores. Currently, the greater the value of CUDA Cores on a graphics card is also very influential on its performance. CUDA itself stands for (Compute Unified Device Architecture). It is a technology that specializes in parallel processing. In other words, they are able to work together to complete a task.
The way each CUDA core works is almost the same as every core on the CPU, it will work to complete every task related to graphics. While the core on the CPU prioritizes working on tasks that are not related to graphics.
7. Interface Memory
Interface Memory is the actual bus width of memory, usually in bits, such as 128-bit, 256-bit, or 384-bit. The memory interface is used to calculate the total bandwidth. The bigger the interface, the bigger the pipe width that is presented.
8. SLI
SLI is the name of the technology Nvidia has been introducing for years. SLI or Scalable Link Interface is a way of connecting multiple GPUs. This technology allows users to connect two to four Nvidia GPUs to work together in processing graphics. This technology is usually used by users who need high-level graphics, thus requiring a large memory clock speed.
AMD named this technology CrossFire. Even though it has a different name, PC users usually sometimes mistake it for SLI because the term CrossFire is less popular.
9. Ray-Tracing
Ray-Tracing is a technology term coined by Nvidia for the RTX series of graphics cards. If interpreted, Ray-Tracing is tracing light. But the meaning is interpreted slightly differently, namely technology that creates an image by tracing light that is simulated on an image. The light bounces when there is a movement and directly interacts with surrounding objects. With this technology it will make the colors of objects and surroundings more accurate and realistic, because reflection occurs.
10. DLSS
NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is an innovative AI rendering technology found only on GeForce RTX GPUs, which uses a dedicated Tensor Core AI processor to improve graphics performance. DLSS harnesses the power of deep learning neural networks to increase frame rates and produce beautiful, sharp images for your favorite games.
