Boku no Hero Academia is set in a world where superheroes exist among normal civilians. There is no hero more beloved by many than the undefeated hero, the world's symbol of peace, All Might. Being famous as the number 1 hero does come with many advantages for All Might, but things don't always go well for him.

Like most heroes, All Might has to work hard to hide the harsh reality he has to endure, and he can't let anyone see the truth behind his charming persona.

Izuku also learns that there are many costs, burdens, and problems that one must face with all that power. Here are some of All Might's grim realities in Boku no Hero Academia.

1. Is Extremely Gaunt and Losing His Strength

All Might’s Muscle Form is more like a costume than his real physique. When he was a student, he was rather skinny. But now, he's so scrawny in his original form.

All Might suffered a serious injury at the hands of All For One, and that emaciated form represents the lasting damage that All For One inflicted on him.

All Might can't let anyone see his frail skinny form, which is certainly a burden to bear.

2. The Guilt About All For One

Each hero has their own archnemesis, from Magneto to General Zodd, to the Joker. In All Might's case, his rival is the all-powerful All For One, and All Might blames himself for All For One's successful run as a supervillain.

Several years ago, All Might defeated his nemesis yet failed to complete his job, and that fact weighs heavily on him. Recently, he defeated All For One once more, but All For One broke out of Tartarus, which means All Might's guilt is now doubled.

3. Can't Reach Izuku Via One For All

Izuku has encountered the spirits of seven of the previous One For All users, from Yoichi Shigaraki to Nana Shimura, but All Might wasn't one of them.

These characters can speak to Izuku through their natural Quirk factors, which are molded into One For All. All Might, who doesn't have his own natural Quirk factor, can't talk to Izuku through that Quirk. When he eventually dies, Izuku won't be able to reach out to him.

4. Has No Personal Life

Pro heroes are busy people who have to put their job first. But even so, they can still find time to be themselves or even have a family of their own, as shown by Endeavor. However, despite having some friends, All Might has no personal life.

All Might can't even have five minutes to himself before his duty calls. He may only have his alone time when he enters retirement, but he has nothing left but his students.

5. A Bad Teacher

Granted, All Might is a great fighter, but not every expert does a good job when it comes to teaching their art to others. This holds true in both real life and fiction, and All Might learned for himself that he's a pretty bad trainer for aspiring heroes like Izuku.

All Might gave Izuku the emotional support and the power of One For All, but that's all he could do for him. All Might felt that he had let Izuku down as a mentor, but at least Aizawa and Gran Torino were able to lend their hands to help.

6. The Guilt For Pushing Izuku So Hard

Most shonen heroes push themselves to the limit to get stronger, as Naruto, Ichigo, and Luffy do. Then there's Izuku, who pushes himself to the extreme in order to live up to All Might's expectations of him and become a proper user of One For All.

But most of the time, Izuku would end up bedridden with bandages, and All Might would blame himself for that. Because of him, the innocent boy was utterly devastated, and he felt extremely embarrassed when Recovery Girl scolded him for it. All of this is necessary to defeat evil, but that doesn't mean All Might is okay with this.

7. His Relationship with Nighteye Deteriorates

Many pro heroes have others alongside them to fight evil. At one point in time, All Might had a sidekick named Sir Nighteye to back him up, and they were the perfect duo. However, the duo eventually broke up, and All Might was mostly at fault.

All Might insisted on continuing to fight after sustaining serious injuries after All For One, and that drove Sir Nighteye away. All Might has since lived with the guilt of having kicked out his friend and supporter away from their partnership.

8. Has So Many Enemies

Being a pro hero attracts trouble. Villains can only succeed if they kill the heroes, and some villains specifically target heroes for that reason. But no hero is more hated by villains than All Might himself, and they all want to take him down.

Granted, All Might always wins, but it's still troublesome if there are multiple baddies fighting him alone or sometimes in groups. Not to mention that there are entire Nomus designed with the sole purpose of killing him in battle.

9. Fading Popularity

Over the years, All Might was the symbol of peace and everyone in Japan viewed him as their savior and peacekeeper. It was the good old days. Now that All Might is retired and everyone has seen his skinny form, All Might's popularity is quickly fading away.

10. Hard to Talk to Anyone As Equals

As someone who appears to be superior to others, All Might finds it difficult to speak openly to others as equals. He mentally suffocates everyone around him due to the power gap. All Might's fame and reputation often cost him personally.
