The world in One Piece enters the year 1524. A phone is yet to exists, so people use Den Den Mushi to communicate, and obviously, they also don’t have internet so they can read the newspaper from a bird. 

You might be curious about what happened 400 years ago in the One Piece universe. Well, we’ve heard of the story of Nolan from the Skypiea arc, which occurred 400 years ago. Check the explanation below! 

June 21st, 1120 

Noland left the village of Vira and started sailing with his crew. Fyi, Vira is a small village in place in Paradise (half of Grand Line). According to Log Pose, they are merchants selling a rare item from Skypiea, waver. 

During his journey, Noland reached Green Bit, where he protected dwarves from the evil man. To honor Noland’s service, the dwarves made a statue of Noland and treated him as a hero. This is the reason why Leo called the Staw Hat Pirates with the suffix -land, like Usoland and Luffyland. Leo treated them as the descendant of Noland, the hero.   

May 12th, 1122 

Noland arrived on Jaya island and ended an epidemic that the citizen of Shandia suffered. Four years later, most of Jaya island was blasted up to the sky because of the Knock Out Stream. Not too long after that, the war between Skypiea and Shandia begins. 

November 16th, 1127 

Noland brought King Nvneel to Jaya to show him the riches of the residents of Shandora or the City of Gold. Noland used three ships to escort the king, but they need to sacrifice two sips as a result of the storm to protect the king. When they arrive at Jaya, nobody lives there anymore. 

Unfortunately, this is where Noland experiences big misfortune. The missing City of Gold was blasted up to the sky because of the Knock Out Stream. Six months later, Noland received a death sentence because of the ‘lie’ about the City of Gold. He died believing the City of Gold submerged to the bottom of the sea. 

That’s how the legend of Liar Noland begins. It’s unfortunate since now we know that Noland is a great person that suffers from misfortune. You should re-watch or re-read the Skypiea arc to see parts of the story of Noland.
