Touken Ranbu was originally a card game developed by Nitroplus with DMM Games. Even though it is a relatively new franchise, the franchise is so popular that it even gets an anime adaptation. Seeing this success, Koei Tecmo (Omega Force) announced their involvement in developing a new musou game for Touken Ranbu.

Here’s the first gameplay trailer of Touken Ranbu Musou:

Through the gameplay trailer, Nintendo Direct viewers can see the fighting style of several characters that previously only appeared through 3D rendering. From the footage shown, it can be seen that this game is almost similar to the musou games made by Koei Tecmo in general. From the trailer, there was also a debate from the audience, because the gameplay footage seemed to appear with frame drops.

Like the previous Musou games, there is often a drop in frame rates in battle scenes and cut-scene changes. Whether intentional or not, of course gamers expect that Touken Ranbu Musou has received maximum optimization when it was released.

Touken Ranbu Musou is set in the Sengoku period in Japan. In this game, players will follow the adventures of swordsmen from the Touken Ranbu series. Later there will be 15 playable characters and divided into five units, including the most iconic character in the series, namely Mikazuki Munechika.

Touken Ranbu Musou will be released soon for Nintendo Switch and PC on February 17, 2022 in Japan. There is no information yet whether this musou game will also be available for the western region or not.
