Genshin Impact has been running for four months and soon gamers will welcome a new update. Update 1.2 unlocks Dragonspine and 2 new 5-star characters: Albedo and Ganyu. What about Update 1.3? 

Sadly there’s no new area in Update 1.3. But the story returns to Liyue and the festival in the city.

During Genshin Impact Update 1.3, gamers will enjoy fun events and new characters. Read the details about Genshin Impact Update 1.3 below!

1. Genshin Impact Update 1.3 Release Date

The third Genshin Impact update is slated to be released on 3 February 2021. The pre-download phase starts on 1 February 2021

There will be story events and gameplay events, including new challenging content with many rewards. The content won’t come out at once during the release date. But gradually overtime.

2. New Character: Xiao

The new update introduces Xiao as the new 5-star character

Xiao is not exactly a new character since he already appeared in some of the story events. Players have been predicting his arrival as a playable character since the Closed Beta.

Xiao is a mysterious man. He wields a polearm with Anemo Vision. He is one of the 5 Yaksha, Geo Archon’s special army tasked with eradicating demons. Xiao’s Elemental Burst reduces HP per second.

3. Free 4-Star Character and Keqing Banner

Genshin Impact Update 1.3 will grant you one 4-star character for free. You can select one out of Xiangling, Xinyan, Beidou, Ningguang, Xingqiu, and Chongyun.

Keqing banner will be available alongside Xiao’ gacha. This is the best time to add Keqing to your waifu collection.

There may be a new banner after Xiao, but nothing is confirmed so far.

4.Genshin Impact Update 1.3 Event

There are 4 main events in Update 1.3 and several mini-events. The main events are All That Glitters, Lantern Rite Tales, Theater Mechanicus, and Xiao Market, every event comes with a unique feature.

All That Glitters

This is a story event in Update 1.3. The story is centered around Xiao and possibly our main character. Lantern festival will be the setting of the story.

Lantern Rite Tales

Lantern Rite Tales is a new treasure hunting event like the Lost Riches from Update 1.2. You will explore the world, solve puzzles and unlock new treasures.

Although Update 1.3 is centered in Liyue, Genshin Impact will utilize the Photo Mode to freshen up the gameplay. So your photography skill will be useful in this event. Don’t forget to take the special camera from NPC Ji Tong at Liyu Harbor.

Theater Mechanicus

Theater Mechanicus is one of the most innovative events yet so familiar for gamers. This is a Tower Defense mini-game event in Genshin Impact. 

Waves of monsters will spawn and you have to stop them. Don’t let your Tower get destroyed.

Xiao Market

Xiao Market is an event shop full of items that can be traded with a special currency. The shop will have more items as the event progressed.

There’s also a mini-event such as May Fortune Find You that will grant you 10 Intertwined Fates as a login bonus. Other events around the market will grant you a total of 1600 Primogem upon completion.

5. New Monster: Geovishap

Remember Geovishap Hatchling, the hedgehog-like geo monster? Geovishap is its adult version. This monster is obviously more challenging than Geovishap Hatchling.
