The 63rd Japan Record Awards announced that LiSA's song "Akeboshi" for the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc was named one of the Song of the Years. Other artists with this Song of the Year award include Junretsu ("Kimi ga Soba na Iru Kara"), Nogizaka46 ("Gomen ne Fingers cross"), Da-iCE ("CITRUS"), NiziU ("Take a picture"), DA PUMP ("Dream on The Street"), AKB48 ("Ne mo Ha mo Rumor"), Daichi Miura ("Backwards"), Kiyoshi Hikawa ("Happy!"), and Awesome City Club ("Wasurena").

According to the TBS website, Ado, Bank Band, Takashi Matsumoto, and YOASOBI won the Special Achievement Awards, which honor creators with works that have attracted widespread attention. MISIA recognized for Best Vocal Performance. INI, TAEKO, Macaroni Enpitsu, and Ruka Mochizuki were named New Artists of the Year.

Among the recipients of the latest Special Lifetime Achievement Awards are the late Makoto Kawaguchi, the late Asei Kobayashi, and the late Koichi Sugiyama.

The awards ceremony will be held on December 30, 2021 and will be broadcast on TBS Japan.

"Akeboshi" is the opening theme song for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc, the seven-episode television version of the manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train arc. The song was a female artist's most downloaded digital single of the year in its first week, with 75,630 downloads in its first week.

The single debuted digitally on October 18, 2021. It was also released in a physical version on November 17, 2021 alongside the song "Shirogane," the ending theme song from LiSA for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc.
