Oshi No Ko’s Opening Song by YOASOBI Tops the Charts!
Aside from the breakthrough of the anime, Oshi no Ko’s theme song has also grabbed the attention of many, as proven by its position in several music charts.

The popular Japanese music duo, YOASOBI, is the performer of the opening theme song of the latest anime Oshi no Ko titled “Idol”. The opening song to the anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s manga has been played for more than 600,000 on Spotify, and broke its own record for most daily plays in Japan.
The opening song currently tops the platform in Japan. The music video of “Idol” also tops the music video charts on YouTube Japan with more than 16 million views. This means that the music video has now entered the 100 Top Global Music Videos on YouTube with more than 37 million views globally.
The closing song for the anime – “Mephisto” – is performed by Queen Bee. Oshi no Ko is an anime that debuted on April 12, 2023, with a 90-minute long pilot. HIDIVE, the company that broadcasts the anime via stream in Japan, stated the anime has become "#1 series launch in the streamer's history". Akasaka and Yokoyari first launched the Oshi no Ko manga on Weekly Young Jump Shueisha in April 2020.
The Oshi no Ko anime follows Ai Hoshino, a 16-year-old idol who has tons of fans due to her talent and beauty. One of them is Goro Amemiya, an OB-GYN and a hardcore fan of Ai. One day, Ai mentions her long hiatus and encounters Goro under an unusual circumstance at the hospital. He needs to help Ai, who turns out to be pregnant, without being known by others.
But on the night Ai is going to deliver the baby, Goro is killed by a mysterious figure before doing his job. Meanwhile, Ai delivers a twin, a boy and a girl. Goro, who’s been killed, unexpectedly gets revived as Ai Hoshino’s boy, named Aquamarine Hoshino, or Aqua for short. His reincarnation is unique as he remembers clearly about his previous identity before being reincarnated. 4 years after the birth of the twins, Ai passes away in an unpredictable condition, Aqua then gets determined to find the cause of Ai’s demise.
