Jakarta, December 24, 2024 – Laptop Merah Putih: In a significant step to strengthen the national technology industry, Zyrex Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Xacti Indonesia have officially entered into a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to advance the national technology ecosystem by combining the strengths of industry and educational institutions.

Zyrex Indonesia, a producer of downstream technology devices, teams up with Xacti Indonesia, an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) partner, and UGM, a higher education institution active in technology research.

As an early step in the collaboration, UGM and Xacti’s research teams visited Zyrex Indonesia’s production facility in West Jakarta to observe the manufacturing process of laptops powered by Intel Core i5 processors, featuring motherboards made using Surface Mount Technology (SMT) PCBs produced by Xacti Indonesia.

Laptop Merah Putih Initiative

This partnership is part of the “Laptop Merah Putih” initiative, funded by the Kedaireka program from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. The program aims to increase the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in national laptop devices. By using locally-produced motherboards, the TKDN of national laptops is projected to rise from below 40 percent.

This move is a key step toward fostering Indonesia’s technological independence, paving the way toward a long-term goal: creating Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) capabilities in the country. Through ODM, the entire design and production process will be carried out entirely in Indonesia, involving close collaboration between industry and academia.

Timothy Siddik, CEO of Zyrex Indonesia, stated, “We are proud to be part of an initiative that pushes Indonesia’s technology industry to new heights. With this collaboration, we are optimistic about producing high-quality products that can compete globally.”

Budi Raharjo, Deputy General Manager of Xacti Indonesia’s EMS Business Development, echoed, “This collaboration is a tangible proof of our commitment to supporting the development of technology in Indonesia.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Sigit Priyanta, Deputy Director of UGM, added, “The synergy between industry and academia will be a key driver in creating innovations that have a real impact on the nation.”

Through this tangible step, the Laptop Merah Putih initiative is expected to become a symbol of national technological pride and a milestone for Indonesia’s electronic industry independence. Support from the government, educational institutions, and industry players is key to realizing this ambition.

With 28 years of experience in the local technology industry, global expertise from Xacti Indonesia, and UGM’s research excellence, this partnership holds great potential to transform the national technology landscape. Indonesia is entering a new era of technological independence, and the Laptop Merah Putih initiative is the beginning of this journey.
