Anime & Manga | 11 August
Elle Sid Pierre is the captain of France Jr., the side that Japan Jr. had to encounter at the World Youth. Pierre was fascinated by Misaki’s playstyle, challenged him to a duel. Both of them have exceptional techniques. Here are some facts of Elle Sid Pierre in Captain Tsubasa!
1. Napoleon’s Best Partner
While Japan has the Golden Combination in Tsubasa and Misaki, France has Pierre and Napoleon. As the two greatest players in France, they always bring cohesive combination plays. They are even able to pull of one-two techniques called the Eiffel Attack.
Before the match against Japan, Napoleon had just joined the France Jr. team. But due to his massive talent, he’s able to build a combination play with France’s football genius, Pierre.
2. His Reason for Playing Football
Pierre, who was born into a wealthy family, had to deal with a specific issue during his childhood. He hates people who always bring up his social status. This made him feel alienated and shunned by his peers. And even some adults.
Pierre found the way out for his problem by playing football. Since in football, there’s no such thing as a social status. Whether you’re rich or poor, the rule of the game applies to everyone.
3. His Signature Shot
Slider Shot is Pierre’s mainstay technique. He used this shot to score against Japan Jr., with Wakashimazu as the goalie. The ball goes straight quickly but falls sharply when it gets to the goal. Surely not an easy shot to stop for most goalkeepers.
In Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team, Pierre can mix up Slider Shot with Napoleon’s special move, Cannon Shot, into Slider Cannon Shot which requires both of them to kick the ball. There’s also the Harmonious Slider, the double-curves shot. It is more elusive than the Slider Shot.
4. Misaki’s Rival
It started whit Bordeaux Junior defeating Seine Junior 3-0. Pierre heard that the Seine lost because Taro Misaki didn’t play. The France Jr. captain also heard that Misaki’s better than him technically. That made him go to Paris to meet Misaki in person. They finally met on the stairs of the Rue Foyatier and had a duel.
Their duel had to end in a draw after Katagiri interrupted them and asked Misaki to join the Japan Jr. team. Pierre was glad about that because he could have a proper duel with him in an official match. Ever since then, Pierre always considers Misaki as his rival.
5. Based on a Real Player
Pierre is based on Emmanuel Petit, the former France international player. The 50-year-old man played for big clubs, such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona. Petit was also the scorer of the third goal for France when they defeated Brazil 3-0 in the 1998 World Cup.
