Genzo Wakabayashi is one of the best goalkeepers in anime/game of Captain Tsubasa. He dreams of becoming the best goalkeeper in the world, and he is a member of the Japanese national team. Read the article below to read the facts about this goalkeeper!
1. Outside of the Penalty Box
When facing Kojiro Hyuga, Wakabayashi stated that he will never let anyone scores from outside of the penalty box. Since then, Wakabayashi never gets scored on from outside of the penalty box except when he is facing the Fire Shot of Schneider for the first time.
2. The Real Captain of Nankatsu
When he was attending Nankatsu Elementary school, Wakabayashi was the captain. But after suffering from an injury, he gave the captain ban to Tsubasa Ozora.
Under the leadership of Tsubasa, Nankatsu keeps on growing. In fact, they played in the final. They beat Meiwa Elementary school, which was the school of Kojiro Hyuga and Ken Wakashimazu.
3. The Trio
When playing at the Hamburg club, Wakabayashi meets Schneider and Kaltz. Since then, the three become best friends and trains together. They called the trio.
When Schneider transferred to Rottenburg, he becomes the opponent of Wakabayashi in the Bundesliga. At that time, Wakabayashi beats Schneider.
4. Trained in Boxing
During the Asia Qualifier, Wakabayashi suffers from a serious injury which stops him from catching the ball with both of his hands. Even so, he uses his fist to punch the ball away. Wakabayashi then trains boxing to strengthen his punch.

Since he was young, Wakabayashi is trained by the former Japanese national team goalkeeper, Tatsuo Mikami. Mikami gives Wakabayashi harsh training in hopes that Wakabayashi turns into the best goalkeeper in the world.
