Currently, Sabo is the user of Mera Mera no Mi, the Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows the users to create and manipulate fire at will. Physical attacks won’t work on this Logia-type Devil Fruit users. Here are five facts about Mera Mera no Mi that you need to know in One Piece!

1. The differences with the other Logia-type

If you noticed, all of the Logia-type Devil Fruits were eaten by the antagonists in One Piece. However, Mera Mera no Mi became the only Logia-type Devil Fruit that has ever eaten by the protagonists such as Ace and Sabo. 

Interestingly, the two were Luffy’s “brothers”. Chances are, in the future Sabo will use this ability to kill Akainu, the one who killed Ace.

2. The Devil Fruit that have two users

Previously, Mera Mera no Mi was eaten by Portgas D. Ace. After he was killed, this fruit was being reuse by his “brother”, Sabo. Luffy who knew that Sabo is still alive was very happy and entrusts Mera Mera no Mi to him. Sabo then ate the Devil Fruit happily to be able to use the same power as Ace.

3. Natural Weakness

The reason why Ace was defeated by Akainu was because of the Devil Fruits that they ate. Mera Mera no Mi has the power of fire, while Magu Magu no Mi is capable of producing magma. The heat from magma is able to extinguish fire. This is why Akainu’s magma fist was able to penetrate Ace’s body and eventually killed him.

4. Rediscovered by Doflamingo

After Ace died, Mera Mera no Mi was regenerate and found by Doflamingo. He then used the Mera Mera no Mi as the main prize for the tournament that he held in Corrida Colosseum. Even though there were so many fighters who tried to get this strong Logia-type Devil Fruit, Sabo was the one who managed to win it and used his brother, Ace’s power.

5. The first time Ace found it

According to One Piece Novel A, Ace first found Mera Mera no Mi when he was stranded on an island in East Blue which was called Sixis. At the first, Ace offered the fruit other person who happened to be one a same island with him, Masked Deuce, but he refused it.

Eventually, Ace ate the fruit and gained the Logia power. With this power, Ace was able to destroy a warship and formed the Spade Pirates. He was even offered to be part of the Shichibukai, but he refused.
