This year's combined 21st and 22nd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday, April 25, 2022 that Yuki Tabata's Black Clover manga will be on hiatus for approximately 3 months starting with the next issue to prepare for the new arc.

Tabata discussed the matter with his editorial department, and they all made this decision so that it would also give Tabata time to rest. Weekly Shonen Jump will reveal at a later date exactly when the Black Clover manga will resume.

Tabata revealed in his comments in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine that the new arc will indeed be the last arc of the Black Clover manga. Tabata added that he himself had planned not to take a break from the project after discussing it with the editorial team. They also decided that this extended hiatus would give him time to write the script for the final arc or saga.

Tabata serialized the Black Clover manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally and in print, and Shueisha's MANGA Plus service is also publishing the manga digitally. The manga has over 15 million copies in circulation worldwide as of May 2021.

The anime adaptation of the Black Clover manga premiered in Japan in October 2017. The anime series originally had 51 episodes, but continued into a new season starting at episode 52 in October 2018, and continued into a new season in October 2019.

The anime series' hiatus began in April 2020 due to the effects of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the production team. Then the anime series was resumed in July 2020 starting with episode 133. The series aired the 170th episode which became the last episode in March 2021. This anime inspired the Black Clover film which will be released in 2023.
