Warner Bros Japan revealed that the arts-themed drama manga Blue Period by Tsubasa Yamaguchi will receive a live-action film adaptation which is planned to premiere in Japanese cinemas on August 9, 2024. This film will be directed by Kentaro Hagiwara, with Reiko Yoshida writing the script, Yuuki “Yaffle” Kojima providing the music, and Warner Bros. Pictures as the film distributor.

Along with the announcement, a trailer for the film was also revealed.

A poster revealing the main cast in the film was also released.

• Fumiya Takahashi as Ryuji Ayukawa
• Rihito Itagaki as Yotasuke Takahashi
• Hiyori Sakurada as Maru Mori

The manga by Tsubasa Yamaguchi was first published in Kodansha's seinen magazine Monthly Afternoon in June 2017. Kodansha published the manga's 15th volume on November 22. The manga went on hiatus in November and is currently scheduled to return this spring. The series was previously adapted into a TV anime in 2021 and a stage play in March 2022.

Tells the story of a student named Yatora Yaguchi, who is a perfect high school student with good grades and many friends. Slowly this life made him bored and he questioned what dreams he wanted. One day, Yatora walked into the art room and a painting caught his eye. This painting awakened his interest in beauty that he had never known before. Because he felt encouraged, he finally began to dive into the world of art and learned how wild and great this art world was.
