Sony Pictures Entertainment announced on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 that Kousuke Oono's The Way of the Househusband (Gokushufudo) manga is getting a new live-action to be released in early summer 2022. The cast will reprise their roles in the new The Way of  the Househusband live-action. The cast includes Hiroshi Tamaki as Tatsu, Haruna Kawaguchi as Miku, and Jun Shison as Masa.

Other returning cast members include Tamaki Shiratori as Himawari and Naoto Takenaka as Kikujiro Eguchi. There is also Izumi INamori as Ibari, Kenichi Takito as Torajiro, Yuta Furukawa as Sakai, Junpei Yasui as Sadogashima, Tina Tamashiro as Yukari, MEGUMI as Tanaka, and Michiko Tanaka as Ota.

Toichiro Ruto, who previously directed The Way of the Househusband live-action, returns to direct the film. Previously, the first live-action was released in October 2020.

Kousuke Oono launched The Way of the Househusband manga on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in February 2018, and Shinchosha has published the eighth volume on September 9, 2021. Viz Media is publishing The Way of the Househusband manga in English, and has until release its sixth volume on September 21, 2021.

The Way of the Househusband also received an anime adaptation. The first part of the anime was released globally on Netflix on April 8, 2021 with five episodes. The second part will debut globally on Netflix on October 7, 2021.
