Marvel Announces 19 New Movies and Original Series, Set to Release in 2021!
From WandaVision to Fantastic Four, here are 19 new Marvel movies and Disney+ original series to release in 2021!

After a break from Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, finally, Marvel and MCU fans can enjoy the continuation of this cinematic universe that officially enters Phase 4. Via Disney’s Investor Day presentation, the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, announces at least 19 new movies and original series that will be released one by one starting from next year.
1. WandaVision
Set after the events in the Avengers: Endgame, “WandaVision” tells about the life of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) as a happy couple. “WandaVision” will serve as the opening of MCU movies Phase 4 and in 2021 as well and is scheduled to air in Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
2. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
After Steve Rogers retires, he decides to pass down his shield to Falcon (Anthony Mackie). Alongside Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), they will continue Rogers’ legacy. “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is scheduled to air in Disney+ on March 19, 2021.
3. Loki
Even though he was killed by Thanos at the opening of Avengers: Infinity War, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) manages to escape using Tesseract after the Chitauri Invasion as depicted in Avengers: Endgame timeline. What happens next? Everything will be revealed on “Loki'' original series that will air in Disney+ in May 2021.
4. WHAT IF…?
Have you imagined T’Challa becoming Star-Lord instead of becoming Black Panther or the king of Wakanda, or Peggy Carter as Captain America instead of Steve Rogers? Those scenarios are not just a child’s imagination, but a storyline of Disney+’s “WHAT IF…?” that will air in summer 2021. “WHAT IF…?” will be Chadwick Boseman’s final and posthumous role in Marvel Cinematic Universe.
5. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) will be recalled by his past when he has to face Mandarin (Tony Leung) and Ten Rings, a terrorist organization. Becoming MCU’s second movie in Phase 4 after Black Widow, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is slated to screen on July 9, 2021.
6. Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) is famous as the first Muslim superhero in the Marvel universe. This Pakistani-American teenage girl takes the mantle of Ms. Marvel because she idolizes her idol, Captain Marvel. “Ms. Marvel” original series will air in Disney+ at the end of 2021 and will connect to the next Captain Marvel movie.
7. Captain Marvel 2
After saving Tony Stark from outer space and helping the Avengers fighting against Thanos, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) will return to her solo movie in “Captain Marvel 2” which is scheduled for November 11, 2022 release.
8. Hawkeye
After deciding to retire and spending his time with his family, Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) passes down the “Hawkeye” mantle to a young female archer and also his favorite mentee, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). The “Hawkeye” original series will air exclusively on Disney+.
9. She-Hulk
Some of you might don’t know that Hulk has his female counterpart called She-Hulk. This green woman is Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), Bruce Banner/Hulk’s (Mark Ruffalo) cousin who, at some point, was badly injured and received a blood transfusion from Banner. “She-Hulk” will be adapted into a live-action original series in Disney+. Tim Roth reprises his role here as the Abomination from The Incredible Hulk.
10. Moon Knight
A Marvel superhero is often compared with Batman, “Moon Knight”, finally making his on-screen debut in Disney+ with Oscar Isaac as the lead role. In the comics, Moon Knight is the superhero identity of Marc Spector, a billionaire who got his superpower from the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu.
11. Secret Invasion
The planet earth is threatened with Skrulls, a terrestrial creature who can disguise as humans. In Disney+’s “Secret Invasion”, they secretly become an impostor who replaces the real Avengers Superheroes. The founder of the Avengers, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) gets confused, who are the superheroes that he can trust?
12. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness
Slated to be released on March 22, 2022, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” tells about Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who is observing Time Stone after the events of Avengers: Endgame. This movie will also feature other characters from previous Doctor Strange, as well as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).
13. Ironheart
“Iron Heart'' original series tells about Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a genius teenage girl who can make her own Iron Man armor from scraps. This series will air on Disney+ with an unknown date.
14. Armor Wars
Tony’s biggest fear comes true, what if his technologies fall into the wrong hands? James Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle) will fight all-out to prevent that from happening in Disney+’s “Armor Wars”.
15. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
What are The Guardians of the Galaxy doing after defeating Thanos in Avengers: Endgame? Stay tuned to their special movie called “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” which is slated to release in Holiday 2022.
16. I Am Groot
Our little friendly tree alien finally stars in his original series! Groot will be the main character in Disney+’s “I Am Groot”. Will he just speak “I Am Groot'' throughout the entire series? Hopefully, Disney won't forget to add subtitles.
17. Thor: Love and Thunder
Asgardian’s Thunder God, Thor, will return in his fourth movie titled “Thor: Love and Thunder” on May 6, 2022. Natalie Portman is set to reprise her role as Jane Foster from previous movies and also introducing a new character, Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, who was previously known for his role as Batman in DC’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
18. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
After his idea was able to save humanity in Avengers: Endgame, now Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will return to the third sequel, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. Actor Jonathan Majors has been cast as the villain, Kang the Conqueror.
Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) will reprise their role in this movie, but Cassie Lang, who’s previously played by Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame, will be played by Kathryn Newton.
19. Fantastic Four
From all the movies and series announced by Marvel, Fantastic Four becomes one of the show-stealers because previously never mentioned or rumored. “Fantastic Four” has officially become part of the MCU family and will be directed by MCU Spider-Man’s director, Jon Watts.
