After a long wait, Sony Interactive Entertainment releases PlayStation 5 (PS5) in several countries. Unfortunately, gamers in Indonesia have to wait until January 2021. Some Indonesian gamers are willing to go to the extreme by paying more money to get the console first.
PS5 grabs the attention of many gamers globally. The next-gen console by Sony is sold online and went out of stock almost immediately. When the demand is high, the price for the console skyrockets. Some PS5 scalpers reap a lot of profit by selling the console at a high price.
Despite its fantastic sale record, several PS5 owners are complaining about some issues coming from the console. Despite the complaints, Sony is yet to release an official statement about how to solve the issues that happened to PS5 owners.
Then what are the most common issues that most PS5 owners have and how do you solve it? See the full list below to find out.
1. Failed to Connect to the PlayStation Network
After the release, several users complain about having trouble connecting to the PlayStation Network (PSN). Sony Interactive Entertainment just updated the sign-in system for PSN accounts on PS5 and users can use QR code that appears on their TV and scan it using the PS app on their smartphone to log in.
Unfortunately, there’s no real solution to solve this issue. Some users say that they can connect after rebooting their internet connection or change the IP Address so their PS5 can connect to their PSN account.
Additionally, users can check their PSN service by visiting the official PlayStation website.
2. Download Stuck
PS5 users can download games or apps via the PlayStation Store. The game that they select will be downloaded automatically, but some complain about the download status being stuck in the “Queued for Download” bug. The bug doesn’t happen to just games, but also apps such as Netflix or Disney Plus.
To solve the issue, it’s recommended to factory reset the PS5. And do a factory reset again if the problem occurs again.
3. Can’t Play PS4 Games on PS5
One of the most common issues is that some PS4 games can’t be played on PS5. Sony claimed that PS5 has a compatibility backward feature that can play up to 4000 PS4 games.
In reality, some users complain that their PS5 failed to run PS4 games. Some users even report that an error where they are asked to buy a PS4 game on PS5’s PlayStation Store despite the game is already transferred to their PS5.
Don’t worry, to solve the bug, the user can go to “User” > “Account” > “Other” > “Restore Licenses.” Then a pop-up will appear notifying the user that they can play PS4 users on PS5.

4. Failed Data Transfer using LAN Cable
What PS4 users do when they got PS5 is transferring their data to the next-gen console. One of the methods to do data transfer is by using a LAN cable. But an error often happens during the process. This may be caused by several errors during the data transfer.
You can refer to an article by Dunia Games on how to transfer PS4 data to PS5 using a LAN cable. So that the transfer can run smoothly, make sure that your PS4 and PS5 are connected to the same network. Then, make sure that the LAN cable you are using is working. Finally, during the process, don’t touch the LAN cable.
5. Distorted Visual or Nothing Appears
PS5 supports 8K HDR to run its latest games. But there are not many users that use a TV that support 8K, most of them still use a 4K TV. Some user reports that the visual projected to their TV seems to be distorted and some even report that there’s nothing to be seen.
This usually happens because the PS5 user is using a third-party HDMI cable to connect their PS5 to the tv or monitor. It’s recommended to use the HDMI cable provided by Sony in the PS5 box.
6. PS5 Crashes During Rest Mode
Rest Mode is a vital feature in PS5 where the console is still on but is running on lower power consumption. This feature is used by gamers that are downloading a game with big files and will take hours. But several users report that there’s a bug when the Rest Mode is activated. The bug causes their PS5 to crash and potentially lead to data loss.
Sony has yet to release a statement about how to fix the Rest Mode bug. For the moment, it’s recommended for the user to not use the Rest Mode. the user can deactivate the Rest Mode by going to “Setting” > “Power Saving” > “Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode" > "Disable Rest Mode".
7. PS Camera Can’t Connect to PS5
The next issue is that some users can’t connect PS Camera to PS5. Several users report that there’s an error code "CE-111161-1" when they try to connect PS Camera to PS5. fortunately, Sony already explains how to solve the error code. The user has to use a special adapter to connect PS Camera to PS5, then place the PS Camera in a well-lit room so the sensor works perfectly.
8. DualSense Failed to Work
Several PS5 users are confused when their DualSense can’t automatically connect to the console. The user has to manually connect the controller using a USB Type- C to the PS5.
Then the DualSense will be detected by the PS5 and update its software before you can use it wirelessly. Make sure that the DualSense system update is completely finished to avoid an error in the future.
If there’s an error, the user can download the system software again from “Setting” > "System" > "System Software Update and Setting" > "Update System Software". If the problem still occurs then it’s recommended to do a factory reset.
9. PS5 Shutting Down When Playing a Game
Another popular complaint about PS5 is the console shutting down when playing a game. This is a serious problem for the users because their PS5 will shut down when running games or apps like Netflix and more.
Some stated that the issue is caused by the Rest Mode bug. The bug causes the PS5 system to shut down after a crash happened when activating the Rest Mode. Some assumed that this is related to overheating and leading to the PS5 shutting down.
Unfortunately, there’s no real solution to solve this issue. Some users decided to factory reset their PS5 and unsure whether the issue will happen to them again or not.
Those are the issues and bugs on PS5 and how to solve them. Stay tuned for more information about games and don’t forget to follow Dunia Games on Facebook and Instagram.
