When the name Legends of Runeterra is mentioned, most of us might immediately think of a digital card game from Riot Games that "unfortunately" drowned amidst the tight competition of the card game genre. Not a few even call it "half dead". But is it true that this game has been abandoned? The latest facts show otherwise.
In an exclusive interview with The Gamer, Legends of Runeterra Executive Producer Eric Shen revealed that Riot Games still cares deeply and has big plans for the future of the game. In fact, they are ready to make further investments to improve the gaming experience for their players.
Riot Games seems to have realized that the main strength of Legends of Runeterra is not in the PvP mode like most other digital card games, but in the PvE mode that focuses more on story and exploration. This mode has received an extraordinary response from the community, so that now the development team is focusing most of their resources in that direction.
Eric Shen emphasized that even though the focus has shifted to PvE, it doesn't mean Riot is forgetting about the game's competitive potential. They are simply trying to find the best format that suits the uniqueness of Runeterra itself.
Meanwhile, accusations that Legends of Runeterra is a "dead game" were immediately dismissed by Marc Tryndamere Merrill, one of the founders of Riot Games. He emphasized that the game still has potential and the development team is still actively supporting it, even though it may not be as hyped as when it first launched.
Why Is This Important?
In the world of gaming, especially the digital card game genre, the existence of a title is largely determined by the ability to survive and innovate. This news opens up hope that Legends of Runeterra will not only rise, but also become a new standard in this genre through its cinematic and immersive PvE approach.
