The ex-strongest human in the world of One Piece, Edward Newgate, or Shirohige (Whitebeard), fought with a special weapon. His weapon is called Murakumogiri. On SBS One Piece volume 93, a fan asked about Shirohige’s weapon’s name. The fan once thought that the weapon was a great sword.

Oda said that the Murakumogiri is a naginata that is one of the 12 highest-level swords in the world (Saijo O Wazamono), and no doubt that this is not an ordinary weapon. Even the weapon is immune against Akainu’s magma in Marineford.

When Shirohige met Shanks, we once saw Gryphon (Shanks’ sword) clash against Murakumogiri, and the cloud on the sky above torn into two. After the death of Shirohige, Shanks decided to rest the naginata onto Shirohige’s grave in honor of him. Many pirates respect him and don't want to pull the weapon off his grave.
