Mortal Kombat 1 Officially Joins PlayStation Plus
Starting Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Mortal Kombat 1 officially joins the PlayStation Plus catalog for PlayStation 5 subscribers. That means players can enjoy the legendary fighting game at no extra cost as part of their PS Plus subscription.
Originally released in 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 continues the story from Mortal Kombat 11, featuring Liu Kang as the new Fire God who creates a fresh timeline for the franchise. The game not only reintroduces classic fighters with new twists but also brings an innovative mechanic called Kameos — support characters that expand combos and open up unique strategies in battle.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Also Available
Alongside Mortal Kombat, Marvel’s Spider-Man swings into this month’s PlayStation Plus lineup:
-
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PS5
-
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition for PS4
In select regions, the PS4 version can also be accessed via cloud streaming.
First released in 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man tells the story of a more mature Peter Parker as he struggles to balance his personal life with the responsibility of being Spider-Man, while facing new threats across New York City.
