A few months earlier, we’ve heard some rumors saying that the Indonesian region Steam would implement a tax system, and the rumor has been confirmed. Starting July 1, 2020, every purchase in Steam will be charged for 10% tax, which means if the game costs IDR 500,000 will cost you IDR 550,000.

This has been confirmed by Steam on Steam's official partner site which stated that the Steam region of Indonesia will be charged with a 10% tax for every game purchase.

Previously, the Indonesian government had planned to implement a 10% tax for digital goods, and digital video games would certainly fall into that category. The regulation, PMK No. 48/PMK.03/2020, will be applied in Indonesia on July 1, 2020. Aside from Steam, it’s reported that other stores like Uplay and Origin will also be taxed.
