Netflix and HIDIVE announced that they will premiere the first season of an anime adapted from Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga manga on July 7, 2022. The Vinland Saga anime will also appear on HIDIVE with an English dub from Sentai Filmworks. Netflix in the Japanese region debuted the Vinland Saga anime with an English dub in 2021.

The anime's first season premiered in July 2019. Amazon Prime Video streams the anime both in Japan and outside of Japan. Sentai Filmworks licensed the Vinland Saga anime for home video release, and will release it with English subtitles in August 2021. A second season of the Vinland Saga anime will premiere in January 2023.

Makoto Yukimura serialized Vinland Saga in Kodansha's Shonen Weekly Magazine in 2005, but Kodansha moved the series to Afternoon in late 2005. Yukimura began drawing the fourth arc which will be the final chapter of the manga in November 2019.

Kodansha published the 26th volume of the manga compilation book on May 23, 2022. The series has more than 7 million copies in circulation worldwide. Kodansha USA Publishing is also releasing the manga in English.
