Naruto Uzumaki is the Seventh Hokage of Konoha in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as well as being the strongest shinobi alive besides Sasuke Uchiha. Known to have surpassed human limits in the Fourth Ninja War, Naruto became strong enough to fight the likes of the greats Madara Uchiha and even Kaguya Otsutsuki.

Unfortunately, the concept of Boruto cannot run by continuing the greatness of a character as strong as Naruto Uzumaki. For that reason, the creators of the series often decide to nerf Naruto to ensure the next generation of shinobi can show off their power in an attempt to replace the two strongest shinobi. What are the moments that show Naruto Uzumaki becoming weaker in Boruto? Find out here!

1. When Naruto Lost His Truth-Seeking Orbs

Thanks to the power of Six Paths Sage Mode that Naruto Uzumaki received during the Fourth World of War, he gains access to the nine Truth-Seeking Orbs which grant him immense offensive and defensive power. Naruto had three of the nine orbs he had at the end of the war and could easily get the other balls as well.

Oddly enough, Naruto's Truth-Seeking Ball is nowhere to be seen in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, and this weakens Naruto quite a bit. Had Naruto still been able to gain access to his Truth-seeking Orb, his already formidable Jutsu abilities would have had additional sealing techniques and could even unleash a transformation in its highest form.

2. When Himawari Raged With Her Byakugan

Naruto Uzumaki who became the strongest ninja could be defeated by Himawari, his young daughter. It happened when Himawari's Byakugan was awakened. As a Hokage and Jinchuriki, Naruto is supposed to be one of the strongest shinobi in this series. Considering how young Himawari is, it's truly amazing to see the attack ability she can inflict on Naruto with one hit.

Not to mention, this was right after Himawari awakened her Byakugan, which she also achieved at a very young age. Of all Naruto's opponents, Himawari is the only one who can defeat Naruto with just one hit.

No wonder Boruto is afraid of her, Boruto runs away and hides but his efforts are in vain because with Byakugan, Himawari can see through objects and immediately find where Boruto is hiding. Even Kurama the nine-tailed fox or Kyubi who is famous for his prowess is also afraid of Himawari because of this incident.

Naruto was so weak in this event, he was unconscious for quite a long time. Even though there was an official event that had to be attended by Naruto as the Seventh Hokage. Luckily Konohamaru wanted to replace him by disguised as Naruto to attend the Seventh Hokage's event.

3. When the Nue Rage in Konohagakure

The monster Nue attacks Konohagakure in a special arc in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Released by Sumire Kakei, Nue proves to be extremely dangerous as it can absorb chakra to grow stronger. Naruto Uzumaki was asked not to attack Nue with ninjutsu to avoid accidentally absorbing chakra which made the monster stronger.

Surprisingly, Naruto's ability with taijutsu, which was of the highest level, could easily deal with the monster. And after activating the power of Six Paths Sage Mode, Naruto's hand-to-hand combat should be an easy thing to face his enemy. However, the creators of the Boruto series instead chose to make Naruto let his son Boruto handle Nue in his own way.

4. When He Fights Shin Uchiha With Sasuke

Naruto Uzumaki had clashed with Orochimaru's experimental creature named Shin Uchiha in Boruto. Although Shin Uchiha was quite strong, he was by no means on the same level as the Seventh Hokage, who could take on such greats as Madara Uchiha and Kaguya Otsutsuki during the Fourth Ninja War.

Naruto was made to appear quite weak during his fight with Shin Uchiha and was even injured by an attack by one of Shin's telekinetic-controlled weapons. In the Fourth Ninja War, Naruto was able to dodge light speed attacks with ease. Evidently, he was nerfed in this fight just to make his enemy look tougher.

5. When He Fights Momoshiki Otsutsuki

Naruto's first major battle in Borutoseries saw him team up with Sasuke Uchiha to take on Momoshiki Otsutsuki, who had absorbed Kinshiki's powers. Although the fight wasn't too difficult for both Naruto and Sasuke, it would have been easier if the Seventh Hokage hadn't lost half of his chakra that Momoshiki had absorbed just before the battle began.

If Naruto had full strength, the fight against Momoshiki would have ended much quicker, and Naruto fans could also see Naruto's full strength.

6. When He Fights Delta, the Artificial Human from Kara's Group

Naruto Uzumaki adopted Kawaki after he was brought to Konoha by Team 7. However, the Kara’s pursuit of Kawaki involved Delta attacking them at the Konoha training ground. The two fought in a battle where Naruto used the power of his Six Paths Sage Mode to defeat her.

Once again, Naruto was nerfed by having Delta fight him in Konoha. This meant Naruto had to fight with extreme caution and make sure Delta didn't harm the children around him, which prevented Naruto from unleashing even more of his power.

7. When He Fights Jigen, Kara's Leader

Naruto Uzumaki's fight against Jigen, the leader of Kara, was his biggest defeat in the entire Boruto to date. Even with help from Sasuke, Naruto lost to the Kara leader who didn't even give his strongest attack.

Surprisingly, Naruto's ability to sense everything in existence using Six Paths Sage Mode was completely neglected during this fight. Whereas Sasuke Uchiha could see Jigen's microscopic form with his Sharingan eye, Naruto should be able to sense it and act according to his Six Paths Sage Mode. Unfortunately, he was nerfed once again and lost to Jigen miserably.

8. When He Fights Isshiki Otsutsuki

Naruto Uzumaki clashed with the strongest being in Boruto, Isshiki Otsutsuki, shortly after Naruto was defeated by Jigen. Once again, Six Paths Sage Mode's sensory power was nerfed in this fight. Even though Naruto could sense and resist Kaguya Otsutsuki's attacks in the Fourth Ninja War, in his battle, Naruto couldn't even think of countering Isshiki's attack.

In the end, Naruto had to rely on the power of Baryon Mode to take on Isshiki, and luckily, he managed to force Isshiki to his limits.

9. When Naruto Loses Kurama After Fighting Isshiki Otsutsuki

Baryon Mode can be activated by Naruto Uzumaki at a very expensive price, namely the death of Kurama the Kyubi. In order to defeat Isshiki Otsutsuki, Kurama burned all of his chakra to help Naruto gain stronger powers.

Although the gamble paid off, Kurama's life was lost forever. Naruto was no longer a Jinchuriki since then, and this weakened him greatly. Obviously, Naruto would no longer be able to fight the likes of Otsutsuki and the members of Kara again in hopes of winning.

10. When Momoshiki Otsutsuki Who Possessed Boruto Tried to Kill Him

By severely weakening Naruto Uzumaki, Boruto has created the perfect opportunity to focus more on the next generation of shinobi, all of whom were defeated in power by the previous Naruto. In the Boruto Chapter 66 entitled Kill or Be Killed, Naruto is being targeted for his life to be killed by Momoshiki who possessed Boruto's body.

The younger Naruto was able to defeat people who were possessed by evil forces. For example, when he fought young Sasuke who was possessed by Orochimaru's seal or when Naruto defeated Gaara who was possessed by Ichibi the Shukaku. But when faced with his own son who was possessed by Momoshiki, Naruto looked helpless as if he had been completely nerfed. As a result Boruto had to accept Kawaki's attack protecting Naruto so that Boruto was presumed to be killed by it.
