Along with the start of the new NBA season, the Crayon Shin-chan anime is collaborating with NBA star Rui Hachimura in a special episode that will air on November 4th 2023 titled "Buriburi Hachimura Special." The part of the episode featuring Hachimura is called "Buriburi Zaemon no Boken: Uchu Dunk-hen" (Adventures of Buriburi Zaemon: Volume Dunk in Space).

The episode will take place in a city similar to Los Angeles (where Hachimura currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers). The story begins when Shinnosuke feels extremely hungry and summons Buriburi Zaemon. Zaemon then enlisted the help of Hachimura, who had been so focused on his basketball training that he hadn't eaten in eight days. The trio then ate a huge hamburger while watching on television that a meteorite called BEN-KI was heading towards Earth.

The anime's official Twitter account leaked on October 23rd 2023 that Shinnosuke was on an emergency business trip to the United States, featuring a video of Shinnosuke dancing in front of Bang Zoom! Entertainment studio based in California.

Hachimura even showed us a moment in the recording room, where it was his first time trying out dubbing work. Hachimura told TV Asahi that his family are big fans of Crayon Shin-chan.

However, Hachimura is not the only celebrity who recently got the chance to appear in Shin-chan animation. K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER also entered the world of animation for their latest collaboration.

The idol group appeared in the October 28th 2023 fall episode titled "Aki mo Takenawa SP" (Action-packed Fall Special). In the episode, Shinnosuke, Misae, and Himawari enthusiastically became MOAs (the band's fan name) and participated in the "Happy Fools Challenge." The dance challenge went viral on social media, and even SUGA from their sister group, BTS, participated in the challenge.

The group, who have been releasing singles and promoting their music in Japan, dubbed in Japanese. Some lucky fans even had the chance to win illustrations signed by all the members in a special giveaway commemorating this unique collaboration.

The cute, five-year-old Shinnosuke previously received a visit from the famous Hello Kitty character in the first episode of the Reiwa era in 2019. The collaboration includes various merchandise as well as an appearance in the March 2019 issue of the manga Shin Crayon Shin-chan (New Crayon Shin-chan).
