A Star Brighter Than the Sun Premieres October 2025
The fall 2025 anime season just got more exciting with the upcoming release of A Star Brighter Than the Sun. Adapted from the beloved manga by Kazune Kawahara, the anime will premiere on October 2, 2025 at 23:56 JST on TBS and its affiliates. Before its domestic broadcast, the series already had its world premiere at Anime Expo in the United States this past July, where it received a warm welcome from international fans.

The anime’s ending theme is titled Saishin-wa (Latest Episode), performed by Wanuka. The emotional tone of the song is expected to perfectly match the teenage romance at the heart of the story. Story Overview
The manga A Star Brighter Than the Sun debuted in Bessatsu Margaret in June 2021 and has reached 12 volumes as of August 2025. Viz Media has also been releasing the English editions, with the first volume launched on March 4 and the third scheduled for September 2, 2025.
The story follows Sae and Kōki, childhood friends who now attend high school together. Sae gradually realizes her feelings for Kōki, but she soon discovers that she isn’t the only one who loves him. Teenage romance, friendship, and emotional conflicts unfold as Sae navigates the complexities of first love.
