The console may have been three years old, but the popularity of the hybrid console, Nintendo Switch, is not even close to dying. To compete in the console market that demands a game with high-quality graphics, Nintendo will have to upgrade their hybrid console. Recently, there’s a news stating that Nintendo will release a new-gen Switch in 2021.
As per Bloomberg.com, an anonymous source claims that Nintendo is planning to release a new Switch. The console’s specification is not yet released, but it’s rumored to support 4K resolution with better performance.
Besides releasing a new console, Nintendo is planning to release more exclusive and third-party games. Those games will allow Nintendo to reach a wider range of gamers with casual games to games with a long storyline. The news about the new Switch seems to be true as Nintendo now starts to slow down the release of new games.
Still, Nintendo will keep on producing Switch. As the demand for the current Switch is still high. Based on a yearly sale report, Nintendo sold 21,03 million units of Switch last year making the total number of Switch that exist in the world reaching up to 55,77 million.
The sale record was boosted by the release of Switch Lite that was released in September 2019 (Switch Lite contributes with 6,19 million units sold).
