The Marvel series that premiered last year, Agatha All Along, has officially been confirmed to end after its first season. This information was revealed by Patti LuPone, who played Lilia Calderu, during her interview on the podcast Andy Cohen Live. According to LuPone, the decision came directly from the series creator and showrunner, Jac Schaeffer, who previously also declined to make a second season of WandaVision.
“Jac Schaeffer came to my trailer and said, ‘Patti, I want to let you know that Lilia will die,’” LuPone shared. She admitted to asking for a second season, but Schaeffer firmly declined. “Jac said, ‘I don’t make second seasons. They asked me to do a second season of WandaVision, but I said no. There’s just too much to write,’” LuPone added.
Although disappointed, LuPone praised Schaeffer as an incredible person and expressed hope to work with her again in the future.
This decision seems to align with Schaeffer’s style, which focuses on delivering a strong, single-season story rather than extending the series. Agatha All Along, a spin-off of WandaVision, wrapped up its first season on October 30, 2024. Its final episode delivered an emotional moment where Lilia Calderu sacrificed herself to protect her coven, the Salem Seven, leaving fans shocked by the powerful ending.
While this news may disappoint fans, Marvel seems to be shifting its focus to developing other stories in the future. With numerous upcoming MCU projects, fans can still look forward to plenty of exciting content.
For Patti LuPone’s fans, her role as Lilia Calderu might have ended, but her charm and talent are sure to shine in future projects. Meanwhile, we can only wait to see what magical stories Jac Schaeffer will bring next. What do you think? Should this series have gotten a second season?
