Nobuyuki Fukumoto, the author of the Kaiji manga, revealed in an interview on March 22nd 2024 that the next arc will be the end of the series. Additionally, Fukumoto also confirmed that the Kaiji manga's latest arc, titled "24-oku Dasshutsu-hen" (2.4 Billion Escape Arc), will soon reach its conclusion. Even so, Fukumoto did not provide further details about the next arc or how the latest arc will end.

Currently, the series is on hiatus. It first went on hiatus in June 2023 due to Fukumoto conducting research, and was scheduled to return in September 2023. However, in October 2023, it was announced that the series would go back on hiatus, only to be scheduled to return in November 2023. However, this manga has not been serialized yet. The final issue of this manga appeared in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine in the 27th issue in June 2023.

Denpa released the manga in English, while Manga Planet released the digital version. Denpa describes the Kaiji manga as follows:

"Kaiji Itou's uncertain life is suddenly shaken by the arrival of the yakuza. Burdened by debt and frustration, Kaiji is forced to engage in gambling to save his meaningless life. As the stakes increase and the rules of the game become stranger, Kaiji must finally take control over his own future!"

Fukumoto started this seinen genre manga series in Weekly Young Magazine in 1996. The 26th volume of the "24-oku Dasshutsu-hen" arc (89th volume of the entire series) was released on December 6th 2023. Currently, "Dai Kaiji-ten" (Kaiji Grand Exhibition) is running at Tokyo Dome City's Aamo Gallery until May 12th 2024.

In addition to two anime series, the manga has also inspired three Japanese live action movies, a Chinese live action movie, and a reality game show.

Mr. Tonegawa, which is based on the Kaiji manga spinoff, first aired in July 2018. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series and began showing it on HIDIVE in August 2018.

The news regarding the end of the Kaiji manga is of course a big highlight for loyal fans. With Kaiji's adventures full of puzzles and tension, many are curious about how this character's story will end, written by Nobuyuki Fukumoto.

Even though it is on hiatus, fans' hopes and expectations for this work have not diminished. Hopefully the final arc of Kaiji will be a satisfying conclusion to a story that has captivated readers for years.
