Since Boruto Episode 180 is out, it’s time for the weekly Boruto episode recap. But, let’s have a quick recap about what happened in the last week’s episode. The anime starts to show more of Kara. Almost all of the Inner Kara has been revealed, from Victor, Delta, Amado, to Jiden.

Victor shows his true nature. He intended to betray Kara by using Jigen’s vessel. Unfortunately, Victor’s plan is spoiled. Instead of changing the route to Victor’s hiding place, the air balloon carrying Jigen’s vessel crashes on the Land of Fire. Jigen is going to be mad at Victor.

1. Himawari’s Flower Vase

Boruto Episode 180 starts with Himawari making a flower vase that she makes for a birthday present for Hinata.

The manga readers know about this flower vase. The vase will play a special role in the main storyline later.

A bit of coincidence, Boruto Episode 180 is aired on 27 December 2020 and it’s about a birthday present for Hinata from Boruto and Himawari. The date falls on Hinata’s birthday that is 27 December.

2. Mugino’s Hilarious Behavior

Viewer’s impression about Mugino during the Hashirama cell arc was that he is cold, disciplined, serious, and reliable. But Boruto Episode 180 reveals that Mugino is a bit of a comic too.

While thinking of a present for his mother, Boruto saw Mugino running fast. Boruto thought that Mugino was on a mission to catch bad guys. But in reality, Mugino is running away from the restaurant owner. Turns out, Mugino rarely pays when he eat at that restaurant.

Boruto was unfortunate. He is forced to pay for all of Mugino’s food expenses causing him to lose a lot of money even when he just received his paycheck. Not stopping there, Boruto also bought a burger for the starving Mugino. 

It’s weird to see Mugino, a Jonin, running out of money. He stated that he used his salary to help others. This time, Mugino gave his salary to help a kid buy medicine to help their sibling.

3. Mugino’s Past

Mugino’s trait that love to help others starts during his childhood. Mugino respects Hiruzen, the Third Hokage.

When he was a child, Mugino was used as a “weapon” by criminal shinobi to kill Hiruzen. His body is enchanted with Cursed Seal, so he can’t rebuke the order and can’t fail on his mission. If that happens, then he will die.

We can guess that the assassination attempt failed, but Hiruzen never punishes the kid. Hiruzen even apologized for the situation that forces Mugino to do such act.

The Third Hokage released a special admission letter so Mugino can attend Konoha’s Academy. Mugino arrived in Konoha, but only after the passing of Hiruzen.

4. Katasuke’s Prosthetic Arm

At the end of the episode, Naruto is presented with a new prosthetic arm made by Katasuke Tono. It seems like Naruto will use the advanced tech when facing Boruto. 

Katasuke is still apart of the Scientific Ninja Weapon Team. But he still went to periodic investigation to see if he is still affected by the genjutsu. Konoha never found out the individual that put Katasuke under a genjutsu.

Those are the key events from Boruto Episode 180. This episode clears up some of the events from the manga. Like the reason why Himawari loves the flower vase so much and Mugino’s backstory.

The preview of Boruto episode 181 shows several crucial moments that aligns with the manga. Konohamaru and Mugino already arrive at the crash site. Naruto and Boruto also begin their duel.
