Boruto Episode 181 is out, it’s time for the writer to share all of the key points from the episode. But before that, let’s have a quick recap of last week’s episode about Mugino’s past. Konohamaru’s friend had a rough childhood. When he was young, Mugino was ordered to kill the Third Hokage. But Hiruzen stopped the assassination attempt and helped Mugino become a shinobi in Konoha.

What about this week’s episode? Boruto Episode 181 marks the start of a crucial arc from the manga. Read the full recap below!

1. Kara’s Next Plan

After the air balloon that carries Jigen’s “vessel” crashes, Kara is forced to alter their plan. Jigen called all of Inner Kara for a meeting and told them about the next plan.

Other Kara members cornered Victor during the meeting since the air balloon that carries the “vessel” belonged to him. Delta and Code pointed out that Victor has to take responsibility.

Koji Kashin suggests that he should secure the “vessel” since the crash location belongs to his jurisdiction. Victor disagreed, but Jigen said that this is no longer Victor’s problem. The old man panics after getting the order.

2. Victor Killed

After the meeting, Victor started to draw up a plan from the “vessel’s” data that he obtained. Koji caught him red-handed and he eliminates Victor.

Killing Victor is a challenge because of his regeneration. But Koji knows how to kill the man. Using Zanmai no Shinka, Koji burns Victor without allowing Victor’s body to regenerate. The fire from this jutsu can’t be extinguished with wind or water. 

Koji also destroyed the insect robot that kept the data to remove any evidence.

3. Deepa’s Fate

Deepa is confirmed to be dead after losing to Boruto. But Deepa still exists on Kara’s base, despite only existing as head. Amado managed to save Deepa’s brain from total destruction.

Amado also collects information about Victor’s plan from Deepa’s confession. Jigen also knows about this, and it leads to Victor’s framing. Then Amado destroyed Deepa’s head with one push of a button. 

The two main antagonists from the previous arc are dead.

4. Koji Kashin’s Dialogue

There’s an interesting dialogue in Boruto Episode 181.

After burning Victor and his residence, Koji reports back to Jugen. Then he went to his next job, going to the air balloon crash site near Konoha.

He comments, “Konohagakure, huh? It seems I truly am linked by fate to that village…”. The sentence triggered long speculation from the manga fans before.

5. Boruto vs. Naruto

Naruto fulfilled his promise to fight Boruto. Since this was a practice, the rules were strict and the match is over after one of them falls down. With this rule, Boruto had a chance to win against his father who is labeled the strongest shinobi in the world.

The match started and Boruto launches Rasengan multiple Rasengan. But Naruto parries it like it was nothing.

Boruto gathered and launches Suiton: Hatou creating a wave. Then Boruto mixed the water jutsu with a lightning jutsu Raiton: Jinraisen.

Naruto clapped back by forming a stone wall. The Hokage then absorbs the water and lighting attack. When Boruto was still shocked, Naruto lightly kicked and drops his son.

After the match was over, Naruto explained that his new prosthetic arm from Katasuke can absorb jutsu, but can’t release it back.

6. Konohamaru and Mugino in Danger?

Konohamaru and Mugino were ordered to check the air balloon crash site in the forest. When they arrived, they saw a burning air balloon and an empty room. They saw a mysterious empty container. 

At the end of the episode, a silhouette of a man that appears to be watching them from the distance appears - hinting at the imminent danger to Konohamaru and Mugino.

Those are the key points from Boruto Episode 181. This week’s episode finally enters the crucial plot aligned with the manga, with few side stories. We now know what happened to Deepan and Victor.
