Boruto Episode 196 is out, so it’s time for the writer to make the weekly episode recap. But before we get into it, let’s have a quick reminder of what happened in the last episode.

Naruto asks Kawaki to tour Konoha and find the replacement of the broken flower vase. But Kawaki’s fear and alertness were still high that he almost attacked a kid who ran into him, reminding him of what Jigen did to him and subconsciously dropping the flower vase at the Yamanaka flower shop. 

On the other hand, Koji Kashin enters Konoha without triggering the chakra sensor. Kara is starting to move to take back Kawaki.

1. Sarada Worries About Kawaki

Since team 7 have no mission, Sarada took Mitsuki to visit Boruto’s house. Sarada actually wants to check on Kawaki. Boruto said that Kawaki has been good and didn’t cause any trouble.

Sarada seems to be worried about Kawaki. It’s normal since she saw Kawaki still acting weird. Kawaki attacked a kid who ran into him and his trauma was triggered by itself.

2. Boruto’s Sparring with Naruto

Do you remember Naruto promised that he would make time to spar with Boruto? Yup, this is it.

Boruto unleashed his full power, but Naruto blocks him. Kawaki thinks that Boruto is holding back because he is not using Karma.

3. Karma’s Side Effect on Boruto

Boruto said that he can’t activate his Karma by command. Kawaki then activates his Karma to trigger Boruto’s Karma because their Karma resonates.

With his Karma active, Boruto’s strength increases and Naruto noticed it. His punch packs more power and more accurate, and his jutsu is better. But Naruto can still counter it.

4. Sarada Wants to Grow Stronger

Looking at Boruto, Sarada is motivated to get stronger. She intended to ask Sasuke to teach her how to use Chidori. Maybe it’s time for Sarada to use his father’s ol’ reliable jutsu.

Unlike Sarada, Mitsuki ponders what is the side effect of Karama. Do Kawaki and Boruto think about this too?

5. What Sparring Means for Kawaki

For Kawaki, what Boruto and Naruto are doing is a foreign concept to him. The only sparring he knows is getting punched by Jigen when he was practicing using Karma. Kawaki did have a rough childhood.

6. Remembering Naruto’s Past

Kawaki is interested in Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. The favorite Jutsu of Naruto is not only useful when fighting, but also in daily life.

Kawaki then asked why don’t people use Kage Bunshin to fight with themselves to remove stress. Naruto said that it’s useless.

It’s true. When Naruto was young, he used Kage Bunshin to entertain himself by pretending to fight for a special bowl of ramen. Do you still remember that?
