The second part of the episode introduced two new characters, Lawine and Kanne. Despite their occasional bickering, the two fully trust each other. However, their weakness is the difficulty in making the necessary decisions when left to their own devices. This again reminds us of Frieren's role.

This story arc gives an idea of how Frieren adapts in a group of strangers. Despite initially wanting to follow the lead of others, years of experience with Fern has changed her.

Despite still having limitations in social situations, Frieren has naturally taken on the role of mentor. Even with Fern being in a different group, Lawine and Kanne easily recognized Frieren's leadership.

Without a fight, Lawine and Kanne automatically looked up to Frieren as their leader. There was no debate about who should be the leader. This suggests that the role of teacher may be Frieren's true calling in a world without a demon king to fight, and this is something he probably wouldn't have found without the help of his loved ones who encouraged him to be a role model.
