Watch Haikyuu! Season 4 Episode 18: The Genius from Nekoma!

1. Exhausted Kenma

Previously, it was stated that Sarukawa used a strategy that makes the setter of Nekoma, Kenma exhausted. This is because they knew that Kenma is the most annoying player at Nekoma. When he attempted to pick the airborne ball, he slipped and the ball entered his space.

Sarukawa’s coach realized that setter is not an easy position to be taken. To become a setter, the player must keep passing the ball he/she receives. While Nekoma’s setter, Kenma, is not a setter with high stamina, even he doesn’t have more passion like his friends. Kenma only uses techniques in volleyball.

2. Kenma’s Luring Move

Even though he is already tired, Kenma the genius is yet to throw in the towel. He keeps playing more calmly and trying to think of a way not to consume more energy. After Nekoma’s libero accidentally pass a high ball, slowly Kenma follows the ball’s movement while followed by Sarukawa’s blocker.

Kenma’s goal is to lure Sarukawa’s blocker to move from their right side to their left side. They who are late to realize this allow Kenma to pass to the empty spot so Nekoma gets a score. This is why Kenma becomes the most-watched player by Sarukawa because he’s the most genius player on the field.

3. Kenma’s Strategy

The ball that accidentally passed too high turns out to be Kenma’s plan. He doesn’t want to play with only using his strength. According to him, this makes the game less interesting. Because of that, he wants a different game. At first, his teammates also worry about him, but it doesn’t matter if sometimes executed.

According to Kenma, they will struggle because must lure the ball that Kenma wants. Even so, Kenma believes that they can do it because they have a great will and passion. The game continues with a long rally, making both teams exhausted enough.

4. Nekoma’s Victory

After a long rally, Kenma once pessimistic because he doesn’t have a strong will like his fellow teammates. Kenma remembers Hinata’s question about is he strong enough or not. According to Kenma, the one who’s strength is not him, but it’s Nekoma. That makes Kenma’s game better. After he receives pass-A, he passes the ball to his friend.

The perfect pass is used perfectly and making Nekoma victorious. One thing that makes Kenma feels very pumped up is his rival and best friend, Hinata. At the field next to him, Nekoma sees Karasuno against Inarizaki. Kuroo hopes Karasuno wins and faces each other in the next round.
