From the previous episode of Spy X Family, we learned that a cold war begins between Ostania and Westalis, and the Westalis Intelligence Services’ Eastern-Focused (WISE) Division sends out "Agent Twilight" on a secret mission to follow Donovan Desmond, the Chairman of the National Unity Party of Ostania, who’s deemed a threat to the peace efforts between the two nations. Agent Twilight is then told to create a family in a week to be able to gain access to the social gatherings at the elite private school Desmond’s son attends. 

Twilight forges a new identity as the psychiatrist Loid Forger and then adopts Anya, who actually possesses mind-reading abilities, as his daughter. Loid then enrolls Anya at Eden Academy, the same school that Desmond’s son goes to. At the end of the last episode, we can see that Anya manages to pass the Eden Academy entrance exam. The next mission for Loid is to find a wife. Will Loid be able to find a wife and mother for Anya to continue his mission to infiltrate Eden Academy? Here’s a recap of Spy X Family Episode 2!

1. Introducing: Yor

In this episode, you’ll meet a new character named Yor, a 27-year-old woman who works as an ordinary clerk at Berlint City Hall. Yor’s colleagues tease her for being a 27-year-old woman who doesn’t even have a boyfriend. One of them then mocks her by inviting her to a party where Yor will need a plus-one. 

You will also learn a bit about Yor’s younger brother, Yuri, who calls her. Not wanting to make her brother worried, Yor then lies about bringing a partner to her colleague’s party. Ecstatic that his older sister has finally found a boyfriend, Yuri wants to know more about the guy. Not wanting to disappoint her brother, Yor starts to think about how to get someone before the party.

2. Yor’s Secret

After the phone call with Yuri, Yor receives a call from a mysterious "Boss". The person refers to Yor with the name 'Thorn Princess', and says that she has a ‘guest‘. Upon hearing the instruction, Yor’s facial expression immediately switches from being warm to cold.

Yor comes to the location that the "Boss" told her. Upon arriving, she beats everyone there. As it turns out, Yor is an assassin who had been trained since childhood, being taught various killing techniques under the alias 'Thorn Princess'. During this whole time, Yor had been doing numerous dirty jobs ordered by her superiors.

3. Eden Academy Entrance Assessment

After Anya passed the written entrance exam at Eden Academy, the same school where Desmond’s son goes, the next step is an interview that requires both of Anya’s parents to attend. Twilight then starts to look for a potential wife to take to the interview. 

Loid’s colleague, Franky Franklin, also helps him by providing a list of all the bachelorettes at Berlint City Hall. Franky advises him to use a female agent at Loid’s workplace to pretend to be his wife on his mission. Yet Loid refuses this idea given that many female agents have been wiped out in spy hunts. 

4. Loid and Yor’s First Encounter

Loid and Anya visit the tailor to get her measurements, that’s when Loid meets Yor who comes to get her dress fixed. Loid is surprised when Yor greets her as he’s amazed by Yor’s beauty. 

Anya, who can read other people’s minds, knows that Yor is an assassin. Anya is also aware that both Loid and Yor need each other for their own interests. So then Anya gets involved by letting Yor know that Loid is a widower. 

Yor then musters up the courage to invite Loid to the party as her 'pretend boyfriend’ as she already made up a story to lie to her brother. Loid agrees, with one condition: Yor has to pretend to be Anya’s mother for her school assessment. They both agree to help each other out and promise to meet again.

5. A Mid-Mission Proposal

Loid receives an additional mission on the same day that he’s supposed to meet Yor. Yor arrives at the party late and gets mocked by her colleagues for not having a boyfriend. When Yor is about to leave, Loid arrives despite having blood on his face from the mission.

On their way home, they are being chased by the enemies. Yor is confused about the situation, and they end up pulling over and leaving the car. With the enemies continuing to hut them, Yor helps Loid who almost gets injured.

At the end of the episode, Yor suddenly proposes to Loid for his hand in marriage as she doesn’t want to waste the opportunity to cover up his identity as an assassin. Yor wants to extend their agreement by living together and not just doing the interview. Loid then agrees, and proposes to Yor with a grenade pin as the ring, before throwing the rest of the ring at the enemies.
