With the release of Tokyo Revengers episode 12, it’s time for the author to discuss the episode. But before that, let’s talk about the previous episode.

Takemichi’s life in 2017 had taken a turning point as the new life he had was different from the previous timeline due to the Butterfly Effect taking effect and changing the timeline. Hina’s death faded away from the internet, which meant he had managed to save his close friends Hina, Draken and Akkun.

Soon after, Takemichi’s alarm told him about an appointment to a beauty salon. Then, Naoto contacted Takemichi about his success in changing the future as his older sister Hina survived in the new timeline, and then asked him to come and see the adult Hina.

With that out of the way, let’s discuss how this week’s Tokyo Revengers episode 12 goes!

1. Akkun the Hairdresser

In Tokyo Revengers episode 12, Takemichi was shocked to see the beauty salon he’s going to visit being managed by his childhood friend Atsushi Sendou or Akkun, who was meant to own a night cabaret club in the previous timeline. He really does fulfill his dream since junior high school to own a business and Takemichi promises to fulfill his own part by becoming Akkun’s first customer.

However, he decided to postpone the appointment since Naoto Tachibana calls Takemichi about his successful time travel back in 2005 as his older sister Hinata Tachibana survives in the new timeline. Naoto then asks Takemichi to meet his former girlfriend.

2. Takemichi Reunites with Hina

Saving Takemichi’s former girlfriend has been his main goal in doing a time travel back to 2005, and his success by seeing Hina again in 2017 is proof that he has averted her fate of being killed by a dumpster truck in a fight that involved the then-evil Tokyo Manji organization.

But 12 years is a very long time gap, and Takemichi still remembers that time Hina broke up with him in 2005. As a result, Takemichi who at first was confident to hug her suddenly becomes discouraged to meet her again, even after Naoto has taken him to Hina’s room. Chickened out, Takemichi quickly runs back toward the apartment’s lobby but instead meets Hina who has just returned home.

3. Hina and Takemichi Being Awkward to Talk With Each Other Again 

Meeting his former lover after 12 years is enough to make Takemichi cry on the spot as he is heartstruck when seeing his girlfriend back in junior high school becoming an elegant lady with long hair like an elementary school teacher.

Takemichi and Hina quickly fall silent as they both find themselves unable to utter a single word. Even Naoto who’s observing the situation becomes agitated when Takemichi instead babbles about today’s weather. To solve the problem, he advises Takemichi to drive a car around the town with Hina

4. Takemichi Severed Ties With Hina

Unfortunately, driving around the town doesn’t help much as Takemichi and Hina are still quiet and awkward. Naoto then leaves them as he has to perform his duty as a police officer, and he thinks giving them some privacy might be able to break the tension.

Hina then asks Takemichi to go to a location with beautiful scenery by the water, which turns out to be a place full of bitter memories for her as the person she loved asked her to break up at that place. This disheartens Takemichi even further since Hina seems to be unable to move on from the person who broke up with her at that place and that Takemichi might not be able to ask her to be his girlfriend again. However, it turns out Hina was talking about Takemichi all along and the change in the history means Takemichi himself severed ties with her for some reasons. Feeling utterly confused and anxious, Takemichi leaves for a toilet nearby and tells Hina he’ll return.

5. Hina Dies In Front of Takemichi

Tokyo Revengers episode 12 shows a very tragic turn of events that puts Takemichi’s entire effort to alter the history null and void. He is refreshed after washing his face and believes Hina still wants to date him again and hug him. As he leaves the toilet, he finds the adult Henma who mumbles about how unfortunate that Takemichi’s not in the car, as this means only one person in the car will die instead of two.

Realizing that, Takemichi quickly runs toward the car, but unfortunately it’s all too late as Hina who’s waiting for Takemichi instead gets crushed in the car by a giant car all the way to the wall. To make matters worse, Takemichi sees his own childhood friend Akkun doing the deed, and then the dying Akkun utters his last words that he’s very scared with the new leader of Tokyo Manji, Kisaki Tetta who forces him to do it all.

Akkun’s car explodes shortly after and Takemichi struggles to get Hina out of the car, even though half of her body’s already crushed. Hina can only resign to her fate as she hugs Takemichi and tells him how happy she is that the person she loves still has feelings for her even after 12 years have passed. With her last strength, Hina pushes Takemichi away from the car that explodes shortly after, leaving him shocked yet again. Now with some clarity, Takemichi then rushes back to perform a time leap and is determined to save Hina’s life again by becoming the leader of Tokyo Manji altogether.
