Rematch, the latest soccer game from Sifu and Sloclap, made a huge impact after its beta release. Even though it's still in the testing phase, the game reached over 133,000 concurrent players—surpassing the highest record of EA Sports FC25 on Steam. This is truly a surprising feat, especially for an indie game with a fresh approach to soccer.
The open beta of Rematch kicked off on April 18 and received an overwhelming response. In just a few hours, the game attracted more players than Rocket League and even FC25, which had previously held the record. What's unique is that the beta was exclusive to players who had registered via Steam Playtest, making these numbers even more impressive.
Rematch offers a completely different gameplay concept. Instead of traditional matches, the game features 4v4 and 5v5 matches in a closed arena, where the ball never goes out of bounds, making the game fast-paced and intense. With no offside rules and no fouls, each player controls one character, creating a more personal and dynamic experience. The gameplay resembles Rocket League, but without the cars, giving it a more street football feel in a digital format.
Sloclap also revealed that Rematch will be officially released on July 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, priced at around 245,000 IDR. The good news is that the game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, offering Xbox players free access. If you're looking for something fresh in the sports genre, Rematch might just be the exciting new option you’ve been waiting for!
