[OPINION] Gol D. Roger's Reasons of Submitting Himself to the Marines in One Piece!
It’s not without a reason that Gol D. Roger gave himself up to the Marines. Here’s the theory!
Anime & Manga | 27 March
You must have asked yourself, why would the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger willingly submit himself to the Marines. Perhaps there were other secrets besides Gol D. Roger’s untreatable disease.
On this occasion, the writer would like to discuss a series of theories on why Gol D. Roger gave his self up to the Marines. Let’s get straight into the discussion below!
Giving a Way For His Successors
Aware that he was no longer able to continue his grand ambition, Roger made a shocking decision to the world, submitting himself to the Marines. That’s the moment when Roger gave his final words in front of many people before being executed. Roger genuinely hoped for someone to step up and carry both his great determination and ambitions.
Gol D. Roger once told Rayleigh that he would keep on living. Yet, perhaps what he meant by that was not about him, but his passion and ambitions. Roger believed that one day, someone will relive his ambitions. Surely you still remember Roger’s last words before being executed, don’t you?
Yup, Roger said that he hid the legendary treasure, One Piece, somewhere in the world. The Pirate King wanted everyone to race to find the treasure. That was the first step that he took in finding his successor.
There’s a possibility that whoever discovered the One Piece will find out the hidden secrets of the World Government. Some of Roger’s crew, such as Crocus and Rayleigh seemed to have realized that Luffy is the one who will be the successor of Roger.
Sending a Message to the World
In the One Piece universe, there’s an organization that seems to have control over everything, the World Government along with its secret agents. Roger would like to see a group or an individual who has the courage to investigate and fight them to bring justice. Everything that has been kept secret by the World Government must be revealed.
With his execution, Roger also wanted all those who witnessed his execution as well as the ones who heard the news about it to take a stand and aware of the injustice that has been going on, as it has to be revealed. This assumption emerges since Roger could understand the meaning of the Poneglyph he found, although he could not read it.
It is possible that Roger’s illness was a curse, for knowing the meaning behind the writings on the Poneglyph. That made Roger unable to explain it explicitly, so he chose to inspire individuals or groups to investigate the injustices hidden by the World Government.
Up until now, it seems that there is only one organization that truly understands Roger’s intends, the Revolutionary Army led by Monkey. D Dragon. Could this group that has been long-awaited by Roger be able to reveal all of the World Government’s secret?
That was an opinion regarding Roger’s reasons for submitting himself to the Marines. Keep in mind, that it’s still an unproven theory. Wait for another One Piece discussion on DuniaGames!
